dont tell me to borrow some from harefield lol. since peter has been in i am very aware of the need for clean hands, and want some for when he comes home. i dont want to ask people to wash their hands so having alcohol gel about in stragenic places maybe people will use it.

i dont care what cod wil lsay either Wink

safeway, boots etc

Polgara2 · 16/04/2006 20:59

Superdrug or any supermarket like Asda. Not that I'm obsessed with it you understand Grin.

misdee · 16/04/2006 20:59

will it be with the handwashes? any brand better than another?

puff · 16/04/2006 20:59

Sure I've seen it in Boots too Misdee - darned good idea IMO

Polgara2 · 16/04/2006 21:00

Yes with the handwashes and soaps etc. Superdrugs own is only about 89p and you can get a few different fragrances I think.

edam · 16/04/2006 21:02

Good idea Misdee. Was laughing at people on the other thread, but they don't have vulnerable heart patients at home.

misdee · 16/04/2006 21:02

right then, will have a look in town. even if the darned stuff hurts if u get it in a cut. ouch!!!

is the stuff in the shops upto hospital standards?

OP posts:
jampots · 16/04/2006 21:03

yes im sure it is.

spacecadet · 16/04/2006 21:03

most chemists sell it, i get mine from boots.

misdee · 16/04/2006 21:03

shall i put big sign up by the door, 'please use gel' or just ask people as they come in? Grin

spacecadet · 16/04/2006 21:04

yes get the alcohol gel, not the anti bac gel.
wilkinson stores sell an alcohol spray in a handy purse size.

edam · 16/04/2006 21:05

How about 'Now wash your hands. And turn off your mobile. And no running in the corridors!' Grin

jmum6 · 16/04/2006 21:07

Yes boots, superdrug, chemists, tesco asda they all sell it. I've always got some in my handbag!!

bubble99 · 16/04/2006 21:09

And also 'Stop asking for pillows. We haven't had any of those since 1986.'

spacecadet · 16/04/2006 21:11

pmsl bubble!!!!!
that brings back memories, the dreaded, can i have an extra pillow question.

misdee · 16/04/2006 21:13

i could use the current sign on the transplant unit doors. 'STOP!! if you or a memeber of your family has had vomiting or diaheraa in the last 24hours, please do not visit till you have been clear for 72hours' or soemthing like that. it appeared after peter vomited in the corridor and had diahorrea for 5days, despite me and the girls not going in for a week just in case.

misdee · 16/04/2006 21:13

I use the milton handgel and have done since we had dd almost a year ago. DH & I use it at home and also when out as not all toilets are v hygenic. IMO I think it's brilliant stuff esp if it stops the spread of germs. Also I am so OTT about cleaning Grin.

BTW boots do sell it, in the baby section and Tesco also sell it in the baby section. About £2..??? But a small bottle goes a long way .........! Also sell Milton wipes for wiping surfaces etc.

HTH.

puff · 16/04/2006 21:40

what's with the pillows....please divulge "in" joke

bubble99 · 16/04/2006 21:42

Puff. Pillows are sold for squillions on the hospital black markets. These days you'll be lucky to get a rolled up bedspread. Same goes for towels.

bubble99 · 16/04/2006 21:44

And when they do materialise they'll say something like 'NHS property. Outer Hebrides' on them.

spacecadet · 16/04/2006 21:44

puff when i was at work, i used to dread it if a patient asked for another pillow as it meant pacing the lengths and breadths of the ward looking for an unattended pillow(elusive like the scarlet pimpernelGrin), and invaribly returning empty handed and telling said patient who had one pillow, there werent anymore.

puff · 16/04/2006 21:45

aha.......... I wondered why I had pillows named "property of" some far flung nether region when I was last in hospital!

spacecadet · 16/04/2006 21:45

towels! dont even get me started on towels!
(or counterpanes)

hulababy · 16/04/2006 21:46

I got mine from the local garage.
