Want to get one in the sales - went to Currys today and checked them out. Argued with dp. He wants the most expensive, stylish one. I want one that serves our needs. Said I'd ask you guys.
We are a family of four that regularly stretches bigger to accommodate extended family / friends. I cook most days, sometimes twice a day. Snore. So we need a regular size one that will get used a lot. I liked the Bosch ones simply because we have the best vacuum cleaner ever and its a Bosch. Anyone have a good one they'd recommend?

I've got an AEG which is fine but when the man came to fix it he said next time we biught one we should buy Miele as they were brilliant.

We had a Miele, because they were meant to be fantastically reliable. Note the word 'meant'. Enough said. We now have a Bosch, which, so far, has been great.

Yes, definately Bosch. We've got the ClassiXX and it is fab. I have 4 kids and often more with step kids too. It gets used 2-3 times per day and I LOVE it.

good website .

Also try Comet on-line - excellent website and good reliable deliveries in-my-experience-so-far-touch-wood. You can compare 4 at a time lined up next to each other.

Unlike Chinchilla we have had very positive experiences with Miele, we have a both a washing machine and dishwasher from them, the dishwasher is too new to comment but the washing machine has been fantastic (five years old not one problem with it so far). I would recommend them.

Demented - we had them recommended too! However, I think that we got a 'Friday afternoon job', because it used tons of salt and washing powder too. Anyway, each person has a different experience of different companies, and I would say to Cha to look in 'Which?' magazine, or read up on the net about any that she is interested in. That is what we did, and Miele did come out top.

Cha, check out the Bosch SGS66E02 in white - it's £445 on one site and £300 on the other!

DH is very reliable and I will rent him out quite cheaply

I would rent mine out too but he makes a terrible mess - bit like having a 5-yr-old wash up - water all over the floor and bubbles everywhere.

We've got an AEG which is great and very reliable (touch wood!).

My friends DH runs his own Domestic Appliances repairs business and he recommends AEG and Miele for everything!

Bosch, every time. We're on our second one; the first lasted 13yrs and was still working when we ditched it. We went for the basic model, (does anyone really need 16 programmes???) 299gpb at John Lewis.

We don't have one but both my parents and inlaws have the Fisher & Paykel dish drawer. (more expensive and very styly). Basically the concept is that you have 2 drawers, so if there is just a few dishes (like breakfast/lunch) you can put them in one draw and just wash that so more economical. It was great over a Christmas dinner or when catering for extended family as you can put like all the glasses in the top (for example) and do a quick wash as these don't get as dirty and put all the filthy things in the bottom and have them washing on full/extra hard cycle. Of course the glasses would finish first so then you could put another load in the top while the bottom is still going. I think it is the only dishwasher that has this concept.
We'll be getting one of these when we get a dishwasher.

We've got an AEG and would thoroughly recommend it. It's about 7 years old now and still going strong (touch wood). It was one of the quieter ones when we got it although I'm sure they're quieter still now.

I used to work for Zanussi - and they manufacturer Zanussi, AEG, Electrolux and Tricity Bendix - they are all made in the same place with different badges. If that helps.

We've got that with our new, basic model, Coddy - the novelty of checking it still hasn't worn off yet!

Udar - I have a dishdrawer, but then I live in NZ where they are made so they are more common here. The best bit is you never have any dirty dishes on the benchtop when the dishwasher is on because you can just run the drawers at different times.

That's odd DSW... our family have had really bad luck with Zanussi's... my mum's had about 2 or 3 gone wrong just out of warranty. Odd that they're made in the same place! Presumably made with different quality components?

OUrs in Beaumatic. It is actually a slimline 8 place one but it is very good. I am pretty sure the bigger ones are supposed to be just as good. Really pleased with it so far; got in in July.

Our Bosch has just flooded the kitchen . Only 7 or 8 years old (it was here when we moved in but we know the kitchen was done in 1996).
