Want to get one in the sales - went to Currys today and checked them out. Argued with dp. He wants the most expensive, stylish one. I want one that serves our needs. Said I'd ask you guys.
We are a family of four that regularly stretches bigger to accommodate extended family / friends. I cook most days, sometimes twice a day. Snore. So we need a regular size one that will get used a lot. I liked the Bosch ones simply because we have the best vacuum cleaner ever and its a Bosch. Anyone have a good one they'd recommend?

We have had two Miele dishwashers and I would highly recommend them. We got our first one about 5 years ago and then when we moved abroad we got another one but I would not recommend the model which has the cutlery holder as a flat pull-out tray right at the top. I found it fiddly to put the cutlery in and it reduced the height of the top shelf of the dishwasher so e.g. tall glasses or large mugs wouldn't go upright. Otherwise however they seem to go on forever without any breakdowns - also have a Miele washer and dryer!

annh, ours has the pull out cutlery tray too and I'm not fussed on it, they claim it gives you something like 11% more space, I've got a bit more used to it now but prefer the old basket in the bottom.

Echoing all the sentiments below, I'm devoted to my Bosch dishwasher, we've had it 6 years and it's fantastic. Has never gone wrong. That's probably tempting fate isn't it, I'll come down to a flooded kitchen in the morning now....

Cha, I know you have a family so want to get the full sized version, but for anyone else out there contemplating a smaller machine - don't get the 45cm (slimline version!!)
Even for two people (this was purchased before dd) we don't generate many dishes, ours is useless - you cannot fit big casserole dishes, pans or trays in, and can never fit in all the mugs and glasses on the top rack.

We end up doing a dishwash then washing pans in the sink - defeats the object of having a DW really!!

My husband works for GE Appliances, so of course I'm going to recommend any of their brands (Hotpoint, GE, or Profile). It just depends on how much you want to spend. Go to www.geappliances.com/shop/prdct/dsh_cmp_dsp/. When you find one that you like, let me know. I might be able to find out some rating details, such as whether or not that model has any problems or whatever. Good luck!
