I really don't like the way the arms and legs are too long for my baby and I was thinking I would get someone to make some that fit her properly.

Is your baby a really odd shape then?

hunkermunker · 23/03/2006 22:48

Can't you just wait till she grows? [puzzled]

BabyMad · 23/03/2006 22:50

My baby's legs are longer than her arms and I have to roll the sleeves up still and the legs are too short for her.

I don't like squashing her toes in until her arms fit into her baby grow.

Yes but then the body wont fit hunker Grin

Unless the body grows slower than the arms and legs. But then, the head might be too big also .....what a dilemma?

Maybe Miaou could knit some?

snowleopard · 23/03/2006 22:51

That would be very expensive... but what you could do is hem the arms shorter, and cut off the feet, cut the legs shorter and sew the feet back on.

(Or get a sewing/repair shop to do it for you - cheaper than custom-making.)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/03/2006 22:51

Arent all babies legs longer than their arms? [double puzzled emoticon]

BabyMad · 23/03/2006 22:51

I thought this was meant to be a good place to get help but you are just laughing at my baby. She is cleverer than both of you I know it.

snowleopard · 23/03/2006 22:52

Ooops more posts appreared while I was writing that. Sounds like you just need to hem the arms.

BabyMad · 23/03/2006 22:52

Sorry snowleppard, not to you. Yu are helpful. But I cant sew.

I'm not sure DS's legs are longer than his arms.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/03/2006 22:53

It is.

By the way - you spelt Tailer wrong....

CHICagoMUM · 23/03/2006 22:53

If (and I really do mean if) this is genuine get the baby grows that don't have feet on them (ie all in one pj's) and socks if the feet are cold.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/03/2006 22:53

oh feck i mean Tailor Blush

hana · 23/03/2006 22:54

what about buying 2 piece sets and then you could get different sizes for her top and bottom? or you coujld cut off the feet, I've done this before for the dds

snowleopard · 23/03/2006 22:54

I'm starting to wonder...

SorenLorensen · 23/03/2006 22:54

Does she mind that the babygros don't fit? Both mine always had inches of extra material hanging off their legs and rolled up sleeves but I don't think the experience has scarred them for life.

BabyMad · 23/03/2006 22:54

I can't cut off her feet?

OP posts:
SorenLorensen · 23/03/2006 22:55

Best not to cut off her feet - she may need them later in life.

snowleopard · 23/03/2006 22:55

Have to say, nothing fits DS quite right but I don't mind rolling things up/having them loose, as long as he's comfy and safe.

KBear · 23/03/2006 22:55

Change the baby for one that actually fits the babygros. Mothercare must do 'em.

SorenLorensen · 23/03/2006 22:56

Excellent idea, KBear.

BabyMad · 23/03/2006 22:56

I'm quite fond of her though so just thought I'd get clothes that fitted her. Don't really want to swop her.

OP posts:
KBear · 23/03/2006 22:57

I thought so.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/03/2006 22:57

I find that the extra length on the legs means you can grab those bits to drag them back down to the bottom of the cot more easily.

KBear · 23/03/2006 22:57

You must have a friend that has a baby you can swap with for a few weeks until your baby is the required size.
