Crabtree and Evelyn Gardeners Range-dp swears by it and another vote for Body Shop Hemp

Just remembered the other Body shop handcream. It's cocoa butter which I slthered on and went to bed with cotton gloves (DH away!) and really did the trick. Woke up during the night though and smelt this scent and I thought to myself drowsily "Another woman has been in my bed" and then remembered the new hand cream. Sorry, I digress.

Diprobase or Unguentum Merck works really well.

Another vote for ultra cheap aqueous cream. After I had dd, my hands were very dry, sore and bleeding, and the doctor (or was it midwife) recommended actually washing my hands with it rather than soap. My hands cleared up in three days! Now I just use it as a hand cream when they are looking dry. I recently got a sample of Clarins hand cream, which is lovely and helps, but nothing like the aqueous cream.

Another vote for ladling on cream and wearing pure cotton gloves overnight. The heat really helps it all to soak in and heal. Night is the best time to use the really thick greasy stuff and aqueous cream through the day to retain some functionality. When my skin has been really bad I've been known to do the glove thing through the day as well.

Where can you buy cotton gloves from?

I bought Body Shop shea body butter for my legs, but found after I'd applied it my cracked hands healed up briliantly - so now I make sure i slather them every night.

Also keep a tube of the Norwegian formula stuff in the kitchen and apply it every time my hands have got wet. It's having kids - you have to wash your hands/get them wet so much more often.

I've had really sore, dry, chapped hands this winter and Aveeno hand cream (from Boots) is just wonderful - I also use it on my son's eczema and swear by it! HTH Smile

KatyP - I got mine in John Lewis - about £3 a pair
