What do you think of the Quinny Zapp?

As I have a long, thin hallway, I'm sick of stumbling over my 3 wheeler pram and was thinking of keeping it in the car and getting a Quinny Zapp - does anybody have one and can tell me about it?

I would need something quite robust and don't know if it is up to the job!

have tried one out and it felt quite wobbly.

no shopping basket

doesn't recline

ugly

Grin

can you tell that i don't like it much? lol

MamaG · 28/02/2006 16:56

Riiiight! Do you know of any decent ones that you DO like?! My DS is nearly 2 so don't really need it to recline. :)

I have one and i am not impressed tbh, it is wobbily, not very sturdy at all, doesn't recline, no basket, although the one and only good thing about it is it does fold up very small (although i don't know if it is just mine but is quite fiddily to put up/down)...but that is all it has going for it imo, i am sorry i wasted the money on it Sad

pucca · 28/02/2006 16:58

I don't know from personal experience, but alot of mums on here and a few people i know swear by the maclaren...hth.

LadyTophamHatt · 28/02/2006 16:59

YUK!!!

No hood
No shopping basket
Doesnt recline
Ugly

DaisyBrambleofWillowbottom · 28/02/2006 16:59

misdee had one she sold cos didnt' like it either!

that said, i have to admit i know a few people who really love theirs.

lanismum · 28/02/2006 17:08

im going to agree with the majority so far, hate mine, for all the reasons already mentioned, i find i can put it down really easily, but usually end up wrestling with it on the pavement to unfold it. stupid little wheels too. and it rolls away even when its on a flat surface, my maclaren is a million times better for a small pram.

Stilltrue · 28/02/2006 17:19

I have become a real fan of my Maclaren Triumph. I bought it last summer (when ds3 was about 19m) for holiday use and have been using it a lot since (also have an E3 for rugged walking). It's slim, light, has a hood/raincover/basket, plus a bit of a recline for when your ds is tired. Very cheap on Kiddicare - about 1/3 of the price of a Zapp I think!

misdee · 28/02/2006 17:35

i had one, used it mainly as travel system at the hospital which was ok. then i used it for a whole week when we went on holiday and it drove me up the f-ing wall. nowhere to put shopping, hard work on non smooth streets, rolled away on flat surface, usless at bouncing up and downstairs, really not very sturdy. So i put it on ebay, and sold it for 10pounds less than i paid for it, not bad for 3months use. i have a maclaren ryder which is fab, the triumph is also good, as is the volo. my main pram is a bigger sturdier thing, but for compactness and ease of use, you cant beat a maclaren.

MamaG · 28/02/2006 18:12

Thanks, I'll have a look at the McLarens :)

OP posts:
Piffle · 28/02/2006 18:18

I like mine
It does have a hood!
DD mostly walks but sometimes needs pram so its perfect
Crap on anything but a high street though.

Clayhead · 28/02/2006 18:21

I got a Maclaren Triumph and a Volo for dd and ds who were nearly 2 and 3 at the time. Both are fab and practical and tiny when folded.

I love the shoulder strap too, have used that to carry the buggy more than I thought I would. Volo is light as a feather but there is more to the Triumph.

Also got mine from kiddicare, about £40 ish for the Triumph, I think.

spacecadet · 28/02/2006 18:24

i have 2 mclarens- a quest and a techno xt, i love the quest, its light, really easy to push, comes with a hood etc, only prob is that it doesnt fully recline like the xt.

MamaG · 28/02/2006 18:37

I would use it for:-

The school run (kerbs!) but not far

Walking on smooth ish paths in woods

Walking the dog across fields

So it does need to be pretty tough - any McLarens good for that? :)

Love it but no shopping basket. Not good on rough ground either. Very light and versatile though

Filyjonk · 28/02/2006 19:10

I desperately want a micralite, but sadly have no money. Have you looked at them?

Stilltrue · 28/02/2006 19:20

The Techno XT and Classic Maclarens have the biggest wheels out of their umbrella fold range, so may be better for rougher surfaces. But they are heavier than Triumph or Volo (which is the same buggy frame exactly as the Triumph but with fewer features). Given it's a 2nd buggy, and your ds isn't a little babe, I'd go for a smaller one. Your 3 wheeler could do the field walks surely?

tegan · 28/02/2006 19:55

I love mine and am thinking of getting a second so I have one at home and one in the car.
Never liked 3 wheelers before always reminded me of something a handicapped child should be in (no offence meant)but it has been my best buggy out of the 9 I have had in the past 22 months.

MamaG · 01/03/2006 09:46

I want to keep the 3 wheeler in the car (which i take to work) and leave DH with a smaller one for field walks! Sooo fussy.

I'll look on McLarens website now if I can find it - although he is nearly 2, he is really tiny so I'm not too worried about the weight (yet!)

What do you think of this?

i would go for a cosatto. just as good as mclaren but cheaper! i strongly feel that you pay over the odds with mclaren just for the name!

kiddicare have the cosatto whizz for £85 atm inc raincover etc

I have a cosatto Lunar which has big chunky wheels and lies back. cost me £64.99 brand new. we use it for walking round the pond etc etc round here... it's fine off road

MamaG · 01/03/2006 13:10

Thanks Daisy.

Any more advice anyone? :)

I've got a Micralite, which I love. A shop in Sutton sells them brand new for £75 - no catch. A friend has the Zapp, and she loathes it.

MamaG · 01/03/2006 15:32

Are the micralites quite sturdy?
