What do you think of the Quinny Zapp?

As I have a long, thin hallway, I'm sick of stumbling over my 3 wheeler pram and was thinking of keeping it in the car and getting a Quinny Zapp - does anybody have one and can tell me about it?

I would need something quite robust and don't know if it is up to the job!

where's that shop in sutton? that's a steal!

being the voice of doom here... i hate micralite too! looks horribly uncomfortable for the child!

and they're as ugly as the zapp!

I bought a triumph when dd was about 6 months old. She hated it - wasn't comfortable so bought a zapp which she was very happy in. Some aspects are great - folds small, light to push but is fiddly to put up and down, tips easily, no basket.... We are off on holiday next week and are going to try using the triumph again as we are going to the snow and the zapp would be useful. am a bit concerned though that I might now prefer the triumph now dd is older (13months) and dh will never fogive me Grin

The Micralites are fine - I have had lots of buggies so speak from experience. Mountain Buggy Urban (my favourite), Maclaren Volo, Graco Twin, Phil and Teds, and now a Micralite. It handles fine - the big back wheels are great and it folds to stand upright, which is very handy in a small house. Quite a good sized parcel tray. Negatives are that the rain cover is a shocker, and that the folding mechanism is a bit stiff. But it is lightweight and handles well in mud. I have a buggy board on mine too. The shop in Sutton is Babyland - tel 020 86616091.

good luck with a Maclaren in the snow !! Can you hire a toboggan(with a fixed seat) or 3 wheeler over there instead ?

aelita · 02/03/2006 09:46

Micralites don't give very good support for the child, and bits do tend to fall off. I was acosted in the street by a man shortly after I bought mine a year and a half ago, pointing out something was broken. Turned out he was the company director, who promptly came round our house to fix it! I needed something I could use easily on London buses and it's great for that as you can turn it in a tight space and it's pretty lightweight.

Whats the buggyboard + micralite combo like? Do you have to do the hunched over caveman walk?

Hazellnut · 02/03/2006 10:09

Lizs - hopefully the roads will be clear in the resort and we are taking a back carrier too in case. Will also get a tobogan (dd is 13 months so should be able to sit on one and is walking too so we should be ok).

Actually, having read my post - meant to say teh zapp would be useLESS in the snow. The triumph might be too but when we went to same resort two years ago friends could use a buggy ok so fingers crossed it should be ok !!

Micralite plus buggy board fine - you would not want to be embarking on a long trip though ! Great if the child is about 2 1/2-3-ish as they can hop on and off when they need to but you don't get hunched as you can adjust the handles - mine are turned right around to face me when pishing the buggy. As Aelita said, not great support, but I have a sheepskin in mine, and that seems to keep the 15 month old happy. I have certainly seen worse ! Hate Maclarens - threw my Volo into a skip I hated it that much.
