It's £40 here plus £6 delivery...doesn't say if they can do it for Christmas though.

TinselDragon · 16/12/2003 22:00

I went with that one, Grinch. It claimed the delivery was by 48hour courier so I'm assuming it will be here in time. Obviously I ordered a couple of other things to try and justify the £6 delivery (which didn't actually seem bad for 48 hour delivery)

Fingers crossed that it arrives OK! Thanks.

TheGrinch · 16/12/2003 22:20

You're welcome, soupie!

I always do that too - same thing in shops with long queues, if I find one thing I want I have to get at least 3 more to justify the queueing time. Hope it turns up in time anyway!

(This is janh btw - will be her again after Christmas.)

TinselDragon · 17/12/2003 08:25

I wondered who you were I'm not so well disguised - too green and knobbly to look like anyone else

TinselDragon · 18/12/2003 09:41

That company have now emailed me to say they can't deliver it for Christmas. So why claim 48 hour delivery?? It's now too late to get anything from somewhere else. Bstards!!

champs · 19/12/2003 21:07

Allegra · 19/12/2003 22:33

Thank you, Champs! I wasn't looking for a garage but I desperately needed to know who was still offering deliveries for Christmas.I'd spent ages this afternoon hunting for a set of action figures without any luck. Now I've got them (hopefully) and I'll sleep better tonight.

champs · 19/12/2003 22:41

NP Allegra, I have been in a tiz myself everything is like 75% more effort wiv kids, then an extra 10% wiv each next one lol. Oh I remember my child free days runnin around, leavin the house without the precision of a troop leader.... oh well I would not be w/o my two, they bring so much joy to my life.
I have a few more bits to buy which I am doing tomorrow, then I'll make some h/made truffles and biccies and cards..... Christmas is lovely... fa la la la la la la la la.....

The big garage was out of stock at woodandtoys so I've gone with the smaller one. Still, it saves me braving the crowds in Croydon at the weekend searching for an alternative.

Maybe if someone is looking next year... Argos do them, too. Bottom right of page, but I don't know the number. Looked quite good.

StuffedDragon · 01/01/2004 12:50

The garage arrived on Christmas Eve DS2 was delighted, although has clearly been mislead by the pictures on the box as he believes he's been given a "whole city!". Gulp. Luckiy he's not asked where the roadway or other accessories are yet

Ragged Rascal were good too - I managed to get the toy I wanted for my new nephew and that arrived in under 2 days. AND they gave me 10% off for mentioning Mumsnet.

champs · 01/01/2004 16:38

Hey, how thrifty to mention mumsnet!! why didn't I think of that? will try it next time I purchase something.
Glad pressies came.
DS1 birthday is comin up in feb..... it just keeps going

OP posts:
Allegra · 01/01/2004 17:40

I was really surprised to get a 10% discount too for mentioning mumsnet (Ragged Rascal) Just as well, for I was so excited at finding somewhere that would still deliver for Christmas that I ordered some extra presents for the boys.
Unfortunately I got an email saying the scary figures I needed for DS1's castle were out of stock but the other stuff came very promptly.

TiredDragon · 01/01/2004 21:28

I must say, I only mentioned Mumsnet in the "where did you hear about us" part of the form to give them a bit of publicity but the 10% off was a nice surprise

champs · 07/01/2004 21:06

yes, nice to know that suppliers/ shops know and respect mumsnet

Just resurrecting this thread. Those of you with the plan city garage, how easy is it to work the lift? ELC have one with wind up lift (on a string), but the Plan City one is cheaper - can a 2-yr old work the lift?

champs · 24/01/2004 00:44

haven't got the plan city one but thought i'd add that the string lift didn't last till new year with us!!!!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 24/01/2004 08:49

DS1 is nearly 3 but he doesn't seem to have any trouble with the Plan Tos one (we got the smaller garage, £30 or so?). It works by turning a dial, is very smooth and looks simple to fix the string if it broke. Much better than the plastic garage DS1 used to have where the lift was wobbly and stiff to use.

HTH

florenceuk · 24/01/2004 21:52

thanks! Plan City garage is currently on (small) special, and DS seems to really like them, esp wind-up mechanism.
