YG, with the cheapest packages you can get you have to pay £10 a month extra for the sky plus facility. If you get a £35 or so package then the sky plus facilities are included.

I don't know how it's all worked out tbh - we pay £46 a month (I think) but we have Sky in two rooms, Sky+ in just our main lounge. We don't have the movie channels (can still use box office though).

We are the same as Teddy, with sky+ in the lounge and multiroom, I'd say we watch a lot more now than we did before, it's definitely worth getting.

we have some cheapy deal until March - everything except sports (inc sky plus) for £17!!

btw I gave up sky altogether for 6 months and the only thing I really missed with sky +. Essential IMO and means you are no longer a slave to the telly.

if you already have full sky package with movies and sport how much extra would it be to upgrade to sky+? anyone know?

of course cathy if you tell them that you're thinking of downgrading they may offer the box for free. It's what they are doing for new customers. Free sky+ if you have any of the premium channels.

make sure you get a decent quality new sky+ box. We have had three taken back, 4th is still working!
Sky+ is just the bees knees. No more arguing when someone sneezes in the crucial moment and you can?t hear, phone call interuptions no prob - just pause or rewind. The sky planner thing to record loads of stuff at wierd times of day so you watch better stuff at your convenience is brilliant. No excuse to watch junk anymore. The link thing is great too - we have about 10 different links up there just in case we forget/are out when a series we are following pops on.
We love it You definitely watch better quality tv with it and you stop being grumpy on the phone when someone rings in the middle of a programme..

If you don't want to be a slave to subscription/Sky, then check out PVR.
It performs the same function ie rewind live telly

OMG. Yes, go for it. I really miss my sky+ since we went to Australia. It's one of those things that you don't realise you need until you have them - like a car.

We got ours a couple of years ago on a free trial, and as soon as it was in our house we realised we couldn't do without it. Amazing thing. I still miss it now even though I'm not particularly fussed about tv,

Series link is just the business!! I always forget things are on and we record 'deal or no deal' on C4 every day and watch it when there's nothing on!

There are only a few things I actually watch but this way I can just record them, watch when ready and delete AND never miss and episode.

to get sky + for £89 and free installation at the mo you have to sign up to multiroom as well for an xtra £10 a month

you also have to subcribe to 2 or more premium channels to get it free every month other wise it's £10 a month.

If you don't want the xtra channels / multi room then it's £190 for the box and £60 instalation.

i have a satellite installation company. if you are thinking of getting sky, email me and i will recommend you (sky will email you back) and you get your first 4 months? viewing half price, not to mention a free Sky box and free standard installation, (and i get a bonus for recommending you.) if you want sky plus there would be a charge because it is the box that you are paying for, the subscription is the same weither you have normal sky or sky plus but there are loads of differant packages to suit all budgets. sky plus is a great addition to your tv veiwing and it's not to difficult to grasp. if i can do it then beleive me anyone can. my email: [email protected]

Oooh you must get sky+!

We have had it for a year and I couldn't be without it, it means that now I only watch what I want as opposed to whatever rubbish is on the tv at that time. I often record films and watch them later. Its great when you are out for the evening etc. I never have to endlessly flick through the sky anymore because there is nothing on.

If you've got Sky already, you might struggle to get a deal. They might just say no, you have to pay full price.

On www.avforums.com (recommend this site!), they say if you want to upgrade and they won't play ball with a deal, then phone them up and say "I want to cancel" and ask to be put through to the cancellations department. When they ask why you want to cancel, say you've been a customer for x amount of years, and you're mad about all the deals they have for new customers.
With luck they'll give in straight away. If they don't, cancel anyway and hopefully they'll contact you. If they don't and you really don't want to lose sky, then ring back before the cancellation date and reinstate yourself!

I hate to argue with you Jambuttie, but if thats the case, why do Sky only give you a good deal if you cancel? If you go to Sky as an existing customer they will charge you the earth for upgrading as you are only entitled to one subsidised deal.
