Has anyone got a cameleon? What do you think of it. Am on the brink of maybe buying one, but would really appreciate advice on whether, really, they're worth it!
Thanks

pointless. buy a mamas n papas and spend the rest on yourself.

misdee · 05/01/2006 10:09

oh and the i'coo inifinity also have a carrycot and chair attach, ent, for 230 on groovy style.

pooka · 05/01/2006 10:17

Hmmm...plenty of food for thought. I know they're common now, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, I also loved (pre-babies and luggage space requirements) the new minis and you see them all over the place.

Oh god, I've got one ready to collect (when babs pops - I'm 38+5 at the moment)...

...I had NO IDEA of the chavtastic associations!!! Please someone tell me that this is not the first truly chavvy purchase I have ever made! I am appalled at myself.

Quite apart from that though, I chose it because
a) it's the only travel system I've found that is narrow enough to squeeze through the gap between my sofa and my sideboard, meaning that I can wheel it beyond the front door of the house.
b) A friend has a Frog, which I've been very impressed with in terms of weight, manouverability and adaptability (I also have a massively high front door step, which makes weight quite an issue).
c) So many of the other travel systems seem to be 'overdesigned', with their aerodynamic coffee-cup-holders, and shiny brake discs etc.
d) my parents are paying for it!

But now that I've discovered I am going to become a chav... well, I might just have to customise it in some way, to make it look less recognisable, and more 'acceptable'!

pooka · 05/01/2006 10:20

I also used to tut tut at copying celebs - but (blame post-partum hormones and general devil-may-care-ness) am also finding myself drawn towards them. DH quite tall, so the extendable handle-bar would be needed and that doesn't come with the Gecko. fairly defensive and attempting to justify needless expenditure]

We can be chavs together, Loomer! Shame they don't come with a burberry fabric!
(joking)

pooka, come on then, lets buy one and we can be chav's together! i'm going to go for the red or possibly the darkgrey base with black fabric, but most likely the red!

NorfolkTurkey · 05/01/2006 11:23

Chavaboo, buggeryboob - ha ha! Love it!

Mind you that bayamo does look very nice Misdee.

I've got a black bugaboo frog (I think we got ours for £490 when they first came out) and I'm going to have to get rid of it now DD2 is here! I must confess that I do like my gadgets though and sometimes have more money than sense IYSWIM.

I think my next one will be a twin Jane powertrack as my 1st DD is only 20 months but am not very clued on on twin pushchairs at the moment! The choice seems alot more limited with twin pushchairs.

Yes the Bugaboo frog was blinkin expensive but I personally think it was worth every penny. I liked the fact that it started as a pram then converted to a pushchair. It is also so light and incredibly easy to handle and to get around town with. It would have seen DD through until she was 3/4 so I personally reckon it would have been worth it. I shall miss it when I sell it!

I have no idea what the new ones are like though! They look alot more colourful!

vickiyumyum · 05/01/2006 11:54

norfolkturkey - are you selling the bugaboo frog, because that the one i really wanted but they don't do it anymore, so would consider buying from you!!

MrsBadger · 05/01/2006 12:00

I glanced at the thread listings and got this thread muddled with the Barbie Pegasus one currently below it, so I read
Bugaboo cameleon - does it fly???

LIZS · 05/01/2006 12:03

Trouble with the coloured ones is that they date so quickly that in 6 months they'll be superseded and look plain naff. Personally I'd stick to something more classic, better resale value.

misdee · 05/01/2006 12:05

ok, i will admit, i have the i'coo infinity, and its fab. dont have the carrycot part tho, just the seat. sparkly said it looks horrible but moaned when we went out shopping as i took my maclaren, as the infinity is lovely to push. i got it cheap on ebay when i sold my (cr*p) zapp.

Aloha · 05/01/2006 12:09

I think they are nice.

mumfor1sttime · 05/01/2006 12:11

I thought this thread was about the animal, never heard of this pram!

Maybe chavs have this pram, as they can afford it with their maternity grant?!!

I bought my pram from ebay for £32 including postage, and I have an umbrella stoller which is 21 years old! I dont believe in having a pram as an accessory - rather buy something more exciting!

lovecloud · 05/01/2006 12:14

i cant get my head around these prams!

dont think they look particularly nice and the cost is just ridiculous!!!

its just like a few years back when everyone got those monster three wheelers with off road wheels and then two weeks later they got sick of trying to shove it in their car and went out and bought a buggy or a mcclaren.

i guess you have the money to spend then why not...

i'll shut up now

pooka · 05/01/2006 12:31

I'm also thinking dark red. Nothing too bright. Reesale on ebay is REALLY good. They certainly hold their value in classic colours. Blah blah blah. Can anyone tell I'm still tempted

OP posts:
vickiyumyum · 05/01/2006 12:55

LOL! tried bidding on eaby, but go for too much for a second hand pram with no guarantee (although obvioulsy when i come to sell mine i will want those kind of prices for it )

had been trying to get an oriogional frog, but nowhere does them anymore, so will go with teh gecko or cameleon in red or black. might even get myself a fake burbery handbag and coat to go with it!!!!

mazzystar · 05/01/2006 13:03

i have a red bugaboo

it is quite possibly the best value thing we bought for ds. he is still comfy in it at 15 months, and will see him through to the end of buggydom, and is still in brilliant condition despite daily hammering, it works on the beach (we live on the front) unlike nearly everyone else's buggies that just get stuck, it folds up really small, it is light and manouverable. and its a design classic.

don't like the garish cameleon colours much.

pooka · 05/01/2006 13:45

Oh, I wouldn't get a bright one!
Vickiyumyum - sounds fab. Perhaps you should invest in some matching burberry clothing for you baby too. And maybe a dior bottle while you're at it.

OP posts:
vickiyumyum · 05/01/2006 13:50

that sounds great pooka! will check out ebay asap! LOL!

misdee · 05/01/2006 13:50

vickiyumyum · 05/01/2006 13:58

LOL misdee off to bid now!

pooka · 05/01/2006 14:05

No - it's MINE!
