Are next clothes worth the money? Or are they just a waste of space.

OP posts:
bossykate · 20/12/2005 08:59

imho, they are nothing special.

Eve · 20/12/2005 09:01

Nay..... hate the next logo on everything!!!

tracyk · 20/12/2005 09:05

Usually good reductions in the sales though - pick up stuff then - not full price. imo not worth it.

RachD · 20/12/2005 09:05

Too expensive.

But I do really like Next clothes for my son. Thay fit him really well.
So, I will only buy in sales, or at outlet village - e.g. Bicester or Swindon.

If not, tesco's it is !!!

Enideepmidwinter · 20/12/2005 09:05

no better quality than Tesco plus the Next logo emblazoned everywhere - no thanks!

BonyBethleheM · 20/12/2005 09:06

Some are lovely, others, not so - some of the girls' stuff is a bit "grown-up" for my liking, but the baby stuff is gorgeous. Quality is good and it's always worth looking in the sales for a bargain.

RachD · 20/12/2005 09:07

Tracyk - the next sale at christmas is really good, isn't it ? - they actually reduce their clothes by a decent amount - and thus the become just about buyable !!!
I have already arranged to go to the Next sale with my sil in Woking or Guildford.

hate most next colours and patterns - incredible number of variations on beige for boys

but they are really roomy and stand up to a lot of rough treatment

swings and roundabouts

Feistybird · 20/12/2005 09:11

Eve - yes same here - I really object to doing Next's advertising for them. Overall the quality's not bad.

bamboo · 20/12/2005 09:17

Not keen. SIL works for them so gets first dibs on the sale stuff. I had a look online to see if there was anything I wanted her to get for me but even at half price I didn't think they were especially good value. Website is really poor IMO too. I've had some nice clothes from the staff shop - they are very cheap.

JonesTheSteamingSanta · 20/12/2005 09:18

We've been lucky enough to have a lot of Next clothes second hand for my DS - think the quality is fab - they wash and iron really well and are very hard wearing. And not all the clothes have the Next logo on them - and if they do, some are quite subtle!! Some of the girls stuff is a little tacky, but if you look carefully there is some nice stuff.

(Don't find their stuff as expensive as Mothercare!!!!!! And don't even get me started on that ludicrously over-priced Boden stuff!!!!!!!)

edodgy · 20/12/2005 09:23

The logo on most of their things annoys me why should we pay for clothes when our children are giving them free advertising. I found them to be ok when my dd was a baby but now she's two I only buy the polo neck jumpers (no logo) and the plain blue and pink set of 2 tracksuit bottoms for her from there. I tend to buy gap stuff usually mostly cheap from ebay but also in the sales from the actual store. I find Next clothes for girls 2 and above tend to be too old for them I dont want my dd dressed like a mini teenager. Saying that i've just had a ds and alot of his clothes are from Next mostly because they were bought for him by other people but in general they are quite nice.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 20/12/2005 09:25

it last well, dd3 has some baby clothes that dd1+2 has worn plus 3 of my neices as well. lol. but lately i am disappointed with the older girls styles. I like my kids to look like kids not mini teenagers.

Had a lot of hand-me down baby stuff for DS -generally the things for boys under 2 are OK but agree theres a big overuse of the logo.

Find the kids clothes overall a bit uninspiring really and the girls clothes a bit too "mini adult" in a lot of cases

FairyTaleinNewYork · 20/12/2005 09:36

i called next bland yesterday lol.

Mercy · 20/12/2005 09:36

I think price and quality are reasonable, but style wise - nay. It's hard to find plain clothes, ie no Next logo, no patches, pictures etc, too fussy/fiddly quite often

Bagpussinboots · 20/12/2005 09:39

Hate the logos and only tend to buy stuff when I can see it beforehand (in the shop) and tend to stick to basics (boys jeans/cords etc). Not keen on baby things as they do not fit that well over the cloth nappies that I use on ds2. Quality is OK though.

FlameRobin · 20/12/2005 09:42

Do I own the only ones with no Next label written on the front of them? I like Next - good quality, pretty but functional tops (or the ones I seem to buy anyway), pretty jeans but not so pretty I am worried about them getting wrecked.

Boys may be different, but for girls, as long as you aren't looking for the frills etc, then there is plenty.

DelGirlsRingAreYouListening · 20/12/2005 09:48

I agree flamerobin. I think the quality is good and none of the stuff I have for dd has the logo on. Well, ok, maybe a teeny weeny barely noticable lable perhaps but that's all (cant stand logo's either). I also think the prices are quite reasonable too. Maybe it's just the baby stuff though, i've not had to buy older stuff yet. I do agree that some of the stuff is too old though.

geekgrrl · 20/12/2005 10:09

I dislike the girl styles - seems to be on the edge of tartiness in a lot of cases. The boys' clothes are boring I think. Boring colours etc. Quality is nothing special.
Find the logos everywhere very chavvy.

polly28 · 20/12/2005 10:10

hate the logo

i get ds his stuff from primark

PruniStuffing · 20/12/2005 10:12

No - are mostly horrible. The logo is on nearly everything (also dislike Gap for this), the girls clothes are almost universally pink or lilac, the boys clothes are mostly boring. The plainer clothes are all right but nothing special IMO.

merrySOAPBOXingday · 20/12/2005 10:15

Like others here I don't like logos on kids clothes (or adults either really).

My dd(7) is very tall for her age and wears 9 or 10 yo clothes. Most of these in Next are from the teenage slut range IMO! Truely awful in dirgy colours; no way will I put her in them!
