Mine has just had a ipod for hi b'day - getting him speakers for it for Xmas. Also a shirt, computer game, book on the Ashes and a Terrys' choc orange.
Oh and a bottle of Calvados - he loves it.

Some will be "from" DS (4).

SnowsyPosey · 14/12/2005 22:06

Same boat here. Last year got him this fab bike off ebay. This year we're stuck with clothes and books. Bit boring but he'll like them.

BonyBethleheM · 14/12/2005 22:06

Eye TV (to watch TV on his Mac)
Frasier DVD box set
Ascent of Man DVD
Cufflinks
CD (I forget which one but it was recommended...)
Sweatshirt-type top

katymacracker · 14/12/2005 22:06

A portable DVD player to watch while washing the dishes

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 14/12/2005 22:07

I've just spent £250 on Sat Nav for him, much much more than I usually spend but he has been sooooo good to me this year I just thought he deserved it but.......today he has thrown a huge fit and been a big baby about me spending 3 hours at my Mums (I said we would only stay an hour) so now I think I might just send it back and get him a nice pair of socks

moondog · 14/12/2005 22:11

I have really pushed the boat out this year-most unlike me!!

Akubra hat
Cabin wheelie suitcase
Penhaligons aftershave
Smythson's address book
Two books (one on Welsh 80's rock scene of which he was a big part, the other a book called 'The Farm' about a family businesd which is dismantled and turned into luxury housing-his work and passion is agriculture)

matnanplus · 14/12/2005 22:12

An electric tape measure.

We are renovating our first home and have lots of long distance measuring to do that he often has to do alone while i'm away working.

It's something he'll enjoy and we both buy useful gifts for each other.

chjlly · 14/12/2005 22:13

A jumper!

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 14/12/2005 22:39

speakers for his ipod
book on american war of independence (military history bore and feels underinformed about this one. apparently... yawn)
very beautiful full sized chess set
cashmere sweater
... think that is it

oh no, renewal of his private eye subscription (v successful present 3 years ago, thank you coddy for the idea!)

Enideepmidwinter · 14/12/2005 22:44

I trip
5 x cds
sweater
scarf
slippers
that book "is it me or is everything shit?"

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 14/12/2005 22:47

oh yes I also bought a book called "how to speak bristle" all about the bristol accent. (he is from bristol). crappy yet moderately amusing book compulsory I think!

moondog · 14/12/2005 22:56

I've just read that Enid! Some very funny observations.
One of the authors lives oppsite my sister in Brighton. She says he is incredibly shy and unassuming.

moondog · 14/12/2005 22:57

Off point slightly, but for ladies d'un certain age (not me obviously) the 'Jackie' compendium that has just come out is a great read.

Pixiefish · 14/12/2005 23:00

Dh bought hiself the nintendo ds and told me to wrap that up for him for Christmas. I've got him a Debbie Harry calendar and made him some coasters with dd's scribblings, and a photo frame of dd

AussieSim · 15/12/2005 01:32

Shorts
Book
Cuff Links

He is too hard to buy for and is an ungrateful bugger if you don't get him quite the right thing. If he wants anything he usually just gets it anyway. He already has an MP3 player and I thought of getting him the blue tooth cordless headset, but I mentioned it in passing and he pooed pooed it as being too bulky - typical.

WhenAChildIsBored · 15/12/2005 01:41

I've got him a pedometer. It cost me twenty notes and is the size aof a matchbox...it does measure calories burned and heart rate and all that jazz though. He's just taken up running again though and I think he'll love it. Beats the hell out of me. I don't understand this going "for a run" thing. I only run if there's something chasing me.

bobbybobbobbingalong · 15/12/2005 01:53

We are both having a DVD video recorder and not buying each other anything. The twist is that of course ds has to buy us presents (little ones) which of course means that really we still get to open a little pressie as ds is too young to choose. Next year ds can make us things.

Ds has bought dh a Jeremy Clarkson book and me some jewellery - I know this because I left a strategically marked catalogue out and it's now gone.

WhenAChildIsBored · 15/12/2005 02:01

There's nothing nicer than buying things from the kids and helping them wrap and give pressies to Daddy!! I draw around their little hands in his card, and put splats of baby dinner and little rhymes in there. Much more fun than trying to impress the grumpy git with something flash from me!!
