Can you help me find a new car?

Yet again my car order has fallen through, so I think we may well cancel the Smart order - this is both the Smart fortwo and the forfour that have gone wrong and the service at the garage was appalling. Infact the man organising our order was saked today

They have offered me a blue Smart forfour diesel.

But I am in two minds about using them after their incompetence.

So, what eslse could I get?

I like something a bit funky maybe.

[past cars have been Ford Ka2 (when first out), Smart (when first out), Audi Cabriolet, Golf GTi, VW Beetle]

It's the second car so not got as big a budget as I have had in past.

I have up to about £9k I guess. Have the Beetle to trade in.

Can be new or nearly new.

If two seater (which I love!) has to have ability to turn airbag off.

If four seater has to have Isofix (or option of) in the back.

What to get?!

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 12/12/2005 20:04

how about this ??

really pretty car (much more so than any smart imo), will def turn heads & prob within budget by now?

Hulababy · 12/12/2005 20:23

No Cod - just meant, 'cos they were a bit different when first out. Much more common place now.

I want that MX5 - it even has airbags in passenger seat! Pity it is too dear

I take it a Saab convertible isn't unusual enough for you ?

We've got one, and it's actually quite practical: 4 in at a squeeze, hoodless when you want it, but two doors and swish in stodgy Swedish way, LOL.

Hulababy · 12/12/2005 21:42

Cna't imagine that is going to be in my budget though! Not even nearly new.

You'd be surprised, but it depends how old you are prepared to go. We have a 95' / '96 model (N reg) which I think is probably worth between 5 - 7K in a private sale (haven't check similar ones recently) - despite ultra low miles (58K I think) and FSH (Saab main dealer), and good spec: leather, auto, air con.

Yes, you might not find such low miles at ten-a-penny but there are always good ones around. You are welcome to buy mine, LOL. (Metallic navy blue body, blue hood, biscuit interior).

(I did a For Sale post in the Summer on MN, and have not advertised it 'publicly' yet. Will probably sell early next Spring).

Hulababy · 12/12/2005 22:02

Only want it to be up to 3 years old max. My current car is an 02 and cerrtainly no older than that. And not too much mileage either.

Good luck with your sale though.

speedy little mini (few years old for only £9k though).
I had an mx5, they are spectacular cars. but although you can switch the airbag off (I think) the bucket shaped seats make it a complete bugger to fit a child seat in. so I don't think that will work for you. also realistically I think you need to be able to seat 3 when necessary, don't you?
