buy a little dock for your ipod

then you can carry it around the house (get one with batteries)

if you get a Mac, you can use an Airport Express for remote music playout (just plug into wall socket and then into amp) with no cable between computer and same. Not the same as wireless speakers, but wireless speakers are almost always inevitably crap.

Rent a mobile disco unit.

And can I volunteer the Bournemouth crew, who frequent Disco Fever, to come and be your podium dancers?

hub2dee · 02/12/2005 12:15

She's right.

But it depends how sonically snobbish you are. I am. I'd prefer nothing, LOL. But you might find it sounds better than a little radio etc.

A few possibilities if you can be arsed:

Bose mini cube speakers (tiny) situated under the cupboard units (virtually hidden); bass box hidden in cupboard / ceiling void. NOT the ultimate sound quality but perfectly acceptable for background sound if you don't dig organ music. I've done this in our place.

In-ceiling speakers (flush) only if you're pulling carpet / lifting floorboards above (quality from medium to high)

Drill through shared wall with living room (if this is how your house / hifi is positioned), position one speaker there, and then run 'invisible' speaker tape across wall and overpaint. (quality from medium to high)

I suppose all this makes you even more determined to get your wireless speakers, LOL.

we have similar (though less pretty) ones hooked up to the separates in the living room and they're great. Mostly we use them in the kitchen but also very good in the garden for parties, in conservatory, upstairs etc.
Sound quality isn't absolutely perfect, but fine for most things. If you want perfect reproduction, go sit on the sofa !
