Probably easy to solve...
I need a halo for dd but not the rest of the angel costume (spent last evening sewing a tunic with silver ribbon on!). Sureyl easier to buy halo than make.
She is Whoops-a-daisy angel so I need to be able to bend it out of shape.
Seen on online somewhere but don't want to pay £4 postage fpr a £2 item.
Who has them - woolies? None in Asda last night (tho DH was lookign so he may have missed them)

puff · 29/11/2005 18:31

rofl pph

was this the school's way of ensuring every child had a part?

harpsiheraldangelssing · 29/11/2005 18:33

a rock
oh that's actionable surely
get yself a lawyer

puff · 29/11/2005 18:33

I have tears running down my face.........

SoupDragon · 29/11/2005 20:04

A rock!!! Oh that's just fantastic...

I've been an angel (the tinsel round the top of my tunic itched) and, er, Joseph.

ladymuck · 29/11/2005 20:06

I take it you weren't one of the short ones in your class then Soupy.

Well ds1 is a star.

thank you thank you for the sympathy about my rock role.... It eases the pain a bit, even 30 years later

do you know I think it is the only part I have EVER had in a play? I don't think I was cut out for the stage..

princesspeahead · 29/11/2005 20:26

well done beety's dd.

(rub it in why don't you)

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 20:26

PPH, I told my dh and he asked if you had any words.

Sometimes I wonder if he ever listens to a thing I say

A rock star though, surely?

When I ask ds what he is going to me he solemnly informs me that he is 'still thinking about it'.
I think he is in talks with the director, or something. Very enigmatic. I was a star. Thought it was a crap part. But I liked my silver star headdress.

Enid (depending on size of child) get a pillowcase - paint (using fabric paints) or photocopy (using that magic stuff from Staples) a book cover on front and back

Cut head holes and arm holes - put leoatrd & tights or leggings & teeshirt underneth and you are sorted

(I'd do the magic paper from Staples myself - but then I am lazy)

PS if the picture is too small for the pillowcase - you can have it blow up at a print shop - you just have to do careful matching when you iron it on

Good luck

bobbybob · 30/11/2005 05:23

Ds still hasn't told me what he's going to do in my Christmas concert - but I have told him in no uncertain terms that he has to be an elephant, a clown or a baker as those are the 3 costumes he has. He is vearing towards clown at the moment, but he's 2 so who knows.

I found the hard way that giving him a small spot at the starts prevents him rushing the stage at the end to play a C major scale on a 9 foot concert grand.

fennel · 30/11/2005 08:27

dd2 is Mary. she's not blond nor the prettiest in the form. sort of mousey. nor can it be character casting she's the least docile child around.
must be cos she's the loudest child in reception class.

easy costume though lots of cot sheets and blue cloth.

i was always a narrator. being a good reader.

wilbur · 30/11/2005 08:38

LMAO at this thread. Ds1 is Narrator Number 5 and will be wearing a very natty "eastern-type robe" outfit. I have gone for a gold rope at his waist and a stretchy gold sequinned head band to hold the tea towel on - I realise it's bad form to out-bling the 3 kings but I wanted him to have a bit of sparkle.

Enid · 30/11/2005 08:41

some of you may remember dd1s friend Bruno

he was a king last year and wore a huge furry hat shaped like a crown, a purple velvet shirt of his mums, a gold chain belt and, the glory, a pair of his mums gold high heeled shoes.

wilbur · 30/11/2005 08:44

Bruno and my ds1 would get on like a house on fire. He sounds excellent!

clary · 30/11/2005 10:02

discovered yesterday while chatting to another mum that her dd told her there was a contest between my dd and another girl to be W-a-D angel, and DD won "because she had the loudest voice"!!
pmsl
True tho!

DS was offered a star part but turned it down to be an elf with his friends. Grrrrrrr.

monkeychops · 30/11/2005 13:28

my 18 month Ds old is going to be a shepherd - I know it is probably an easy costume to make for those who can sew, however Iwas never taught how to sew at school (it was considered sexist) and so this part of parenting seems to have arrived upon me rather suddenly and unexpectedly!
I looked for one on the internet but they all seem to be for 3yr olds+... Should i order one anyway or could someone perhaps explain how i could make one???

motherinferior · 30/11/2005 13:41
clary · 30/11/2005 13:51

monkeychops, no sweing required.
dressing gown with big cord (from haberdashery shop)
tea towel on head held on by stretchy hairband.
Toy sheep to carry.
If no dressing gown, cut cleeves off a shirt from Oxfam, pref stripey.

MI lol at hoist by political petard. You just can't win!

OP posts:
fennel · 30/11/2005 13:58

hah, MI, are you suggesting my dd2 is Mary because she's not cute?

her play is also Whoops-a-daisy angel. it seems to be ubiquitous.
