Probably easy to solve...
I need a halo for dd but not the rest of the angel costume (spent last evening sewing a tunic with silver ribbon on!). Sureyl easier to buy halo than make.
She is Whoops-a-daisy angel so I need to be able to bend it out of shape.
Seen on online somewhere but don't want to pay £4 postage fpr a £2 item.
Who has them - woolies? None in Asda last night (tho DH was lookign so he may have missed them)

Clary my ds is doing whoops a daisy angel this year! We are being treated to renditions of 'whoops a daisy, whoops a daisy, whoops a daisy angel' every night

SoupDragon · 29/11/2005 12:46

Board at the front, cloth at the back. Sorted.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2005 12:46

(front board in 2 pieces so it bends at the right place to sit down.

Enid · 29/11/2005 12:49

i thought black top, black trousers, black shoes, sparkly hairband (for her benefit), book front and back big enough but not too big to dig in, or maybe a landscape sized book.

cloth at back a good idea

clary · 29/11/2005 12:49

lol at everyone doing whoops-a-daisy and the singing. Have it going round my head now! DD has t county the snowflakes wrongly (one, two, four etc) - she finds it really hard bless her!
Claire's access what a fab idea. Will go and look there tomorrow.
Thanks all

What are they sitting on? The floor or little chairs? If stools/chairs the board will go over the back. If the floor then You may have to go with cloth, but the weight might be tricky - ie heavier at the front. Trial and error I think.

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 12:59

ds's class dis whoops a daisy angel last year...it is fab.

This year it is about a camel that keeps getting lost. Ds is playing Joseph....thatk god the school has outfits ready made!

DD is a different production is a sheep and requited black tights a trainers, a white top and soemthing fleecy....thank god for primark, sez i!

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 13:00

Enid, LMAO at 'bookist'

PeachyPlumFairy · 29/11/2005 13:01

Sam's lines amount to 'awesome', therefore I am presuming an American script? . they said he can't do too much talking coz he can't learn it but last year he was a narrator so that is twaddle. however I'm not sure he enjoyed narrating, and I know he will LOVE doing a really funky dance with his friend so they've got him right I guess . he had to win a contest to get to do the dancing, and he never even bothered to mention it to us!

I had to be a narrator at school (two of us shared, the only 2 who could read)... I really wanted a costume.

Enid · 29/11/2005 13:02

well it is

the show is called The Best Gift and it is set in a toyshop btw

I think with blatent holy message that toys are rubbish and that jesus is fab

Enid · 29/11/2005 13:03

dd1 gutted as she was Mary last year

what a comedown

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 13:06

I once made the near fatal mistake of geting dd to dress up was the White witch from the lion etc on Book Day. She had a stunning white satin dress, a toy lion and a mini wardrobe. She so didn't want to be the baddie she has a face like a slapped arse for the 30 minutes she wore the fecking thing! It only took me 2 weeks to sert it out after all!

That'll learn me! Next time she went as Hermiony, and every other time since

clary · 29/11/2005 13:10

Enid lol at dd1 and the comedown from Mary.
I have dark hair so was never mary or an angel (sigh).
Nativity blatantly brunettist if you're a girl.

OP posts:
Anchovy · 29/11/2005 13:16

I would say nativity is blatantly "pretty-ist" actually Clary. As a fairly, ahem, plain child I never got to be anything fancy at all. How I yearned to have a silver halo, but no, I got to be the narrator (only child in the class who could read - and more importantly from teacher's point of view, mother was a primary school teacher who had stopped working and would supervise narrating practice). Everyone else had pretty costumes....and I got to wear my feckin' school uniform.

Scarred me to this day. Am still the brunnette, ahem, plain one who doesn't wear sparly outfits but is good at reading (am 41, BTW!)

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 13:19

My best mate got to play the Angel Gabriel andhad a gold halo while the rest of us just had silver ones. We all knew it was a fix cos her mother handed out the parts.

She had a nose bleed on stahge on the big day. I knew that I wouldn't have!

harpsiheraldangelssing · 29/11/2005 13:25

yes I was a plain and clever child
always the flipping narrator
never Mary or an angel
[sob]

Enid · 29/11/2005 13:38

dd2 has been chosen to be lead star because of her undoubted blonde cuteness

unfortunately her upset tummy and current habit of breaking wind loudly and with very antisocial results are ruining the image slightly

JonesTheSteam · 29/11/2005 13:43

Me too, anchovy and hc

Never, ever got to be Mary or an angel but was often the bloody narrator!!

DD fulfils the blonde and pretty thing, but she is one of the narrators this year (as she has a very good memory, and is very loud!!!!)

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 13:45

Just as long as she doesn't pick her nose on stage!

A few years ago dds class did the nativity and Mary and Josepgh were arguing over who got to hold the baby Jesus...a tug of love baby!

Mate of mones little sister once drew the nativity and we could identify all the characters excpet one, and gig guy in the back 'Who is this ?' we asled

'round John' she said

'who is is that?

'The one in the carol....Round John, Virgin, Mother and child'

clary · 29/11/2005 14:18

MB lol at round john!
Actually all, I was plain as well as brunette (tho I'm sure you're not)
Only thing I can remember being was the black cat! (not sure if that was th enativity tho.....)

OP posts:
princesspeahead · 29/11/2005 17:53

all of you who are scarred by being narrators etc.....you don't know how LUCKY you are....

One year I was a rock. That involved wearing grey, sneaking onto the stage when the lights were down and staying motionless and curled up for the whole show, and then sneaking off again at the end when it was all over and the lights were off again.

I didn't see a thing.

I'm still bitter about it. Who would do that to a child??!!!

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 17:55

LMAO!!!!!!!

This is the knicker elastic of the nativity world!

bundle · 29/11/2005 17:55

one easter:

Of Pontius Pilate, leader of the land..
