I am tempted by this but in white for dd

Are they really crap? I want something sturdyish, can't believe for that price that it is

Also can you put normal bedding on (ie fitted sheets) or do you have to buy super scratchy ikea bedding?

I have an aversion to buying those extendable beds as they'll grow out of them at some point

They have (or used to have) the day bed in white with a floaty mosquito net above it in a very girly room-set in Croydon

aloha · 24/11/2005 13:04

I like that bed a lot, and it seemed sturdy enough when I lay on it with ds recently (he thinks no visit to Ikea is complete without a lie down in the children's beds section).
It's sweet and very small.

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:04

Don't buy one then enid!

soupy I want her to grow out of it as my Dad has saved my beautiful marquetry bed which is too big and high at the mo.

i think you should get the bed, especially after what you have said about a bigger bed waiting for her when shes a bit older. because the bed is so cheap you could get the best mattress and itll be nice and comfy, (although you have to get an ikea mattress due to the sizes!) and get nice flat sheets from elsewhere, and just do hospital corners

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:09

hmmm may take dd there tomorrow and have a look

Though she may then choose vile bedstuff

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:10

OP posts:
Enid · 24/11/2005 13:10

Enid · 24/11/2005 13:11

will you check something out for me?

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:12

no

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:13

of course I will

I so hate the place I once cried there as I couldn't stand it.

Frizbe · 24/11/2005 13:14

Yes you can sit on it too CD, it has even held both of us on it for a short while, whilst dd dropped off to sleep when she was ill.

Enid · 24/11/2005 13:16

what cos I dont like your bed

oh go on

its a dining room table

can you look at it and see if that MINGING tray thing is detachable? (the table fits perfectly in a space otherwise). if it isnt there is no point in a trip up there on Sat.

Did i tell you how much I love that bed btw

Lucycat · 24/11/2005 13:18

Why would you need a satellite dish on your dining table? nice table tho.....

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:18

oh pmsl I thought MINGING was the silly ikea name for the tray

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:19

yes will check

What a strange thing, maybe they put their crispbreads on it

OP posts:
nailpolish · 24/11/2005 13:20

that tray must be for their swedish balls...

Lucycat · 24/11/2005 13:20

ouch

serenity · 24/11/2005 13:21

CD - OK I don't work in beds or childrens so I could be horribly wrong and embarrass myself BUT...
The LEN sheet is in three pieces, because we do a 3 piece mattress for the extendable beds - you use two parts when the bed is short and all three to make it a full size single. You can sort of see when you look at the mattress here

See, you all hate us, but you still come.......

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:22

RIGHT am not coming now

Thanks for that - which one do you work in Serenity?

OP posts:
serenity · 24/11/2005 13:24

Croydon

We're lovely, all the other stores are pants.

SoupDragon · 24/11/2005 13:41

Top Tip - get there at 9:30 for free coffee before the store opens at 10. This morning I had 30 minutes (without children it has to be said) scoffing a (not free) danish and drinking coffee whilst reading. Was round the store and out within 35 minutes AND I got a prime parking space.

Oh what a thrilling lifeI lead!

aloha · 24/11/2005 13:42

oooh, that sounds LOVELY! And, very sadly, I'm not being remotely satirical.

iota · 24/11/2005 13:43

SD a new Ikea is opening in MK on 27th Dec -- I am sooo looking forward to nipping in there when it's off peak time - -BTW when is off peak time?

SoupDragon · 24/11/2005 13:43

(BTW, dont like th new store layout at Croydon - it just feels wring. Or maybe I@ve just spent too long in there pre-makeover and I'm just not used to it.... There's something intrinsicly wrong about being in the market place upstairs though )
