I am tempted by this but in white for dd

Are they really crap? I want something sturdyish, can't believe for that price that it is

Also can you put normal bedding on (ie fitted sheets) or do you have to buy super scratchy ikea bedding?

misdee · 24/11/2005 12:43

if you have it fully extended than you can use normal sheets.

its gorgeous. might get oe for dd3 room.

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:45

oh tsk a single sheet is 90cm wide and this is 80

Why do they do that????

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:45

I hate flat sheets

OP posts:
misdee · 24/11/2005 12:46

just tuck the extra in, dont make much difference. they do the special sheets for the exytandle matress. bout at fiver.

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:47

yes but Ikea's bedlinen is like sleeping on a brillo pad

OP posts:
misdee · 24/11/2005 12:47

lol. use a fitted one and just tuck it under.

Twiglett · 24/11/2005 12:47

Ikea furniture is fairly decent crap IMO but I really wouldn't buy a bed because then every time you need linen you'd have to go back to Ikea for it

nailpolish · 24/11/2005 12:48

if you really like the bed im sure you could handle flat sheets!

i think ikea is the same, if not better than places like argos

at least its stylish

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:50

I guess I could just buy about 10 sheets

WTF is a 3 piece sheet? look

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 24/11/2005 12:52

We used to have an Ikea 'king size' bed and I just used normal king size bedding (M&S and Sanderson) - fitted fine!

NannyL · 24/11/2005 12:52

it saysd it fits the 3 piece sofa... so guess its the 3 pieces for if your using their sofa as a bed

WigWamBam · 24/11/2005 12:52

The mattress comes in three parts, so the sheet has to as well - the two extending pieces are separate.

starlover · 24/11/2005 12:53

i used to have an ikea single bed and had no prob with bedding!

just use normal stuff and tuck it under... how on earth does the mattress extend though?

roosmum · 24/11/2005 12:53

think it's cute, & at that price

we have some ikea bedding, it's really not that bad...100% cotton & not at all scratchy IMO. but a pig to iron tho (not that i bother much these days!).

SoupDragon · 24/11/2005 12:54

Can't you fit a full sized single in? this is similar.

franke · 24/11/2005 12:56

This range is much better than their usual brillo pads. I've got a fitted sheet and the thread count seems quite high. Agree - just tuck the extra in, you won't notice. (I detest Ikea too but sometomes there's just no viable alternative)

stripey · 24/11/2005 12:56

Don't know if this helps but ds1's first bed was an odd size and I discovered I could stretch cotbed sheets to fit the matress.

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:56

Yes easily but that is black

Also I think I read somewhere that those day beds arent' suitable for young children to sleep in

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:57

V nice franke but won't fit this 80cm mattress!

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:58

oh god and i bet you have to assemble the flipping thigs too

how hard can a metal bed be to assemble ?

OP posts:
Frizbe · 24/11/2005 12:58

ah yes we have this one for dd, they'd run out of white, so she has black! tis comfy tho!

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 12:59

Is it sturdy enough for me to sit on while reading stories?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 24/11/2005 13:00

It does come in white too though. Can't imagine why they're not suitable for a child unless the bars are further apart than on the child's bed.

CountessDracula · 24/11/2005 13:02

yes that's all I could think of

OP posts:
Enid · 24/11/2005 13:03

dont like metal beds
