I know. 'tis annoying. Dd loves lego.

Curmudgeonlett · 18/11/2005 18:32

am confused .. what is wrong with primary colours for girls? not eveyrthing has to pink / purple (my girl is only 18 months so haven't reached the demanding colour phase admittedly .. she plays with loads of DS's duplo .. all the time)

EnidEatsPeasWithACocktailStick · 18/11/2005 18:32

no i agree though

although they do love the normal lego if you give them the chance

the fairy sets are all too prescriptive I think

MarsLady · 18/11/2005 18:33

possibly the same reason they don't do black lego people..... in their words "there's no demand!"

WigWamBam · 18/11/2005 18:35

My dd thinks the only colour in the universe is pink - it doesn't stop her playing with ordinary lego though.

If they made it in pink they'd only charge twice as much for it ...

tamum · 18/11/2005 18:36

They certainly used to make pink and purple bricks, there were loads at dd's nursery, and I have seen them on sale in those pick and mix lego stores. Dd loves Belville sets though anyway.

EnidEatsPeasWithACocktailStick · 18/11/2005 18:37

this has reminded me how much dd1 would love the pony belville set for xmas...

Marslady -- the lego basketball set has lots of black figures in it

nothing wrong with the primary coloured lego, i played with it all the time as a child myself, but dd would play with it more if it was pink, and we could build our own fairy tale castles rather than one of the belville sets, which i think are over priced and limited in what you can do with them.

Pruni, I would have said you were right, except that dd used to play with lego (as in building, proper lego play) endlessly at nursery, but has only once or twice played with our extensive collection of rad and white bricks at home. She does play with Belville loads, but it's more make-believe play. I haven't stereotyped her, honest, she's just always been like this.

Marslady, that's awful, and what's even more awful is that I hadn't noticed . We do have some of the black basketball figures, but it's true they're not in many sets are they?

RTKangaMummy · 18/11/2005 18:43

If you go to the LEGO shops you can buy loose LEGO of loads of different colours including

PINK
LILAC
PURPLE
TURQUIOSE

tamum · 18/11/2005 18:43

That's what I meant about the pick and mix, RTKM.

RTKangaMummy · 18/11/2005 18:46

sorry for repeating your post

MarsLady · 18/11/2005 18:47

iota, tamum.... in the basketball set... how's that for stereotyping?

iota · 18/11/2005 18:48

I know Marslady - -I nearly put that in my post LOL

Do you know I've been asking them the same question for 13 years? You'd think they'd get the hint by now lol

zippitippitoes · 18/11/2005 18:56

Have you seen this Pink Fairy Castle

tamum · 18/11/2005 19:28

Sorry RTKM, didn't mean to make you blush! You worded it better than me anyway.

Marslady, it is a disgrace isn't it, and how ridiculous to make them for a stereotyped reason (as you rightly point out) but not for anything else? Grrr

lucykate · 18/11/2005 20:29

have been on ebay and it seems that they did do a bucket of pink bricks once as there are a couple up for sale but have already got lots of bids on them and one is already at about £25!, am going to find out where our nearest shop is and do what a couple of you have suggested, thanks for the help on this

Why have I never found the lego shop website before I LOVE LEGO!!!!.

I have never really thought about the colour/ nationality of the lego figures well they are yellow anyway so not really any race. I have alwys thought of lego as a totally unisex toy. I always loved the house building sets and My DB and I would build whole towns for days on end. We once used my duvet as a mountain and had a ski resort in the middle of my room for weeks .

I got the lego advent calender last year and i am very tempted to get another on this year, They packed it all up to use again but I am tempted.

Skribble · 18/11/2005 23:23

Is this girly enough for you . I will give the really girly stuff a miss as it is one of the things that my too like to share.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 18/11/2005 23:24

I like Skribble too!
