If you leave a little vinegar on a dish for 24h in a room with windows closed, then nasty smells seem to disappear. I don't understand it, but it works on the smell of vomit!

You can take pieces of vanilla pod, or cinammon bark and rest them on your radiator (if you have the sort that has a waffle sandwiched between two solid layers, or tie them on a thread looped over one of the brackets between the wall and the radiator if you have the older sort), and they will give off a marvellous fragrance when the heating is on. You could also take other solid spices, like cloves, coriander seeds, cardamom, nutmeg, and put a few seeds in a loose envelope of tinfoil and rest that on the radiator too. These don't take away bad smells, but certainly do give out nice ones.

As for the dog, give him chlorophyll tablets and feed him some cooked veg with every meal or as snacks.
