We had red alder laminate in our old living room. Now we have an oatmeal coloured carpet. Moved in in April, got it cleaned in August and it is now filthy again. We would put down laminate again , but we feel it held back DD1 walking as it was too slippery. Has anyone else had this problem?

Beech. I suppose all 4 of our children were late walkers, but they all get around fine now, maybe slippy floors did hold them back, but we had two very speedy bottom-shufflers The floors look lovely, don't feel cold, and are easy to maintain, but our main living room is rather noisy.

Bottom-shufflers are great for dusting!

ds always wears socks with rubbery things on them, gap ones are the best,or bare feet.

Wood. Living in the country with two kids and a dog means that I sweep up an incredible amount of dirt every day, which I can't believe a vacuum cleaner would completely get rid of. It means I never have to get stressed about kids/dogs/visitors treading in mud or water as a quick going over with the mop cleans the floor instantly!

This week carpet. Next week Chinese Oak .
