All positives and negatives needed please.

My dyson is pants. Same part keeps breaking, and whilst it is replaced under warantee every 6-9 months I am fed up with it and have been.looking for alternatives. Henry seems popular on here...is it really that good. No pets but 4 of us have long hair

Right the dyson is really dead iv cut the plug off

What Henry / hetty do u get for our 3 story house with two cats - 1 with long hair, a dog and two kids

TheVisitor · 13/05/2011 16:38

I got the 2 speed Henry.

pinkhebe · 13/05/2011 18:59

I covert that one, but old Henry will not die Grin

mollymole · 13/05/2011 19:35

my HENRY is brilliant - recommended by professional cleaning company and would never, ever have a different make now (dyson/hoover had both before and not a patch on Henry)

trixymalixy · 14/05/2011 14:33

We have a Henry with a turbo brush which would prob be better for hair than a bog standard one.

FIFIBEBE · 14/05/2011 14:41

My cleaner loves our 10 year old Henry.

mamalovesmojitos · 14/05/2011 14:47

I'm going to buy Hetty as soon as I can afford it, just because of this thread Smile. I'm excited!

Jins · 14/05/2011 19:01

My Henry is rubbish. Total waste of money.

I did a small room with Henry then took the dyson over it again and got half a bin full of dirt Henry had left behind.

Seriously unimpressed

CointreauVersial · 14/05/2011 21:38

I get the impression it's less good on long-pile carpets, or if you have a very hairy pet. Luckily I have neither!!

CointreauVersial · 14/05/2011 21:39

Anyway, it's Saturday night, what the fark am I doing writing about vacuum cleaners?

TheVisitor · 15/05/2011 12:07

I have a cat who tends to leave half of his bodyweight in hair behind him on his favourite spot at the top of the stairs. Henry eats it. Grin

CointreauVersial · 15/05/2011 12:21

Henry ate your cat?? I knew it had good suction but that's astonishing. Wink

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 15/05/2011 12:25

Am a bit late - but I HATE my Henry, I have tried to kill it in many ways but 7 years, 3 renovations and a couple kicks down the stairs Blush the bloody thing won't die. It is a pain to store, won't pull straight after me and the cord sticks. I hate it and want a dyson but Dh said no until Henry is no more. Am going to accidentally drop it out the window when hovering the sill Grin

TheVisitor · 15/05/2011 12:26

He's eaten 7 cats, 4 children and one mother in law up to now....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2011 12:33

I keep fantasising about accidentally hurling my vax down the stairs so i can replace it with a Henry.

ChippingIn · 15/05/2011 12:48

TheVisitor and one mother in law - what else could you ask for?? Grin

notnearly - why do you hate your Henry?

I have a couple of hoovers/vacuums at the moment, both from freecycle as I thought they'd do until we finished renovating when I could get a nice new one that only had to do regular hoovering... but they are both crap.

It seems such a shame to buy a lovely new shiney Henry then suck up building shite with him :(

HauntedLittleLunatic · 15/05/2011 12:51

Only just seen this is still going.

Well I got my Henry...I am in love....but I know that newborn Vacuum cleaners are so much sweeter than old age ones so we shall see. I don't use the super sucky function though cos I don't need to.

I got a bog standard Henry....He doesn't cope fabuously with teh long hair but he does gather it all in one place so I can put it in teh bin. It kind of catches it on the velvety pad on teh thingumy. I expect it would do just fine with shorter pet hairs though.

I thought about getting the one with teh turbo brush but when I looked into it I could buy Henry (on offer at £99 at the time) plus the turbo brush seperately online for less than the machine that actually comes with the turbo brush. So that is something to look out for, and will think about for the future.

Storage is fine. He just fits in my airing cupboard but with a large footprint this is something to look out for.

Bags are HUGE...so I don't expect I'll be changing them often.

Haunted what is your verdict, have you vacuumed? You couldn't ask a hoover to do anymore than the Henry does-if anything the suction is almost too strong isn't it? Smile

joymaker · 22/05/2011 22:46

oops, just seen your verdict!

Erienne · 23/06/2011 10:17

Hi, I was looking at buying the George version of Henry which is a carpet cleaner as well. Has anyone used one or have any thoughts on vacum/cleaner combos.

Thanks :)
