tummy ache was our dds favourite at about that age. Easy to play & didn't require much parental supervision either

supersonic · 20/10/2005 16:12

my DD and I played a fantastic game called Balloon Lagoon the other day and it was fantastic my DD is 4 and 4 months and I can often have problems keeping her attention as she gets bored quickly but this game was excellent it has won awards and everything but it is £20.

myalias · 20/10/2005 16:13

snakes and ladders and candyland are quite easy to play. Although it's not a board game my ds loves the shopping list game.

albert · 20/10/2005 16:14

A vote for Snakes and Ladders here too

macwoozy · 20/10/2005 16:15

'Don't wake dad' is really fun to play.

littlerach · 20/10/2005 16:39

Orchard toys do some really good games. DD1 loves the shopping list game, and spotty dog one.

Kelly1978 · 20/10/2005 16:41

hungry hippos, pop up pirate?

kerplunk

LIZS · 20/10/2005 17:40

Second Orchard Toys - Washing Machine game and Tummy Ache are favourites of the moment. Also Ravensburger ones like Snail's Pace Race, Funny Bunny, Jigsaw Snakes and Ladders or 3-d Labyrinth. If she can concentrate long enough Mousetrap is also fun.

hoxtonchick · 20/10/2005 17:41

we got a set from whsmith for about £12 which has got 5 or 6 different games in, inc. snakes & ladders & lotto, picture dominoes & memory, loads.

Medea · 20/10/2005 18:04

Do they have Candyland in this country? Kids of that age love Candyland. Snakes and Ladders. Memory. Don't Wake Daddy. Guess Who. (some of these may be American, but should be available at Toys R Us.)

LIZS · 20/10/2005 18:06

yes have seen Candyland - the Entertainer had it.

Pop-up-Pirates is great, we got it for my eldest when he was 4 and my youngest now 5, still laughs like a drain every time.

WitchyWhizzz · 20/10/2005 19:56

DS loves Cariboo !
Personally I didn't like Candyland - but DS seems to. He also likes Ghostly Galleon & Rumble in the Jungle (although that takes ages to set up !)

spidermama · 20/10/2005 19:59

Another vote for Orchard toys.

NB Junior Scrabble is crap.

spidermama · 20/10/2005 19:59

Marble Run is good.
Mousetrap and Operation aren't what they used to be as the modern version, though it looks the same on the box, is cheap and crap with losable, breakable bits.

hornbag · 20/10/2005 20:00

Honey Bee Tree from ELC -its basically their version of KerPlunk.
Not only good for 4 yr olds but also fun for the slightly sozzled grown-ups after the kids have gone to bed (as we discovered last Xmas )

scaryclary · 20/10/2005 20:10

pop to the shops
shopping list
ladybirds game
(in descending order of easiness - all from Orchard)

SirFurmum · 20/10/2005 20:14

Orchard games are great. Dsd still loves playing the Washing Machine Game and she's 9!

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 20/10/2005 20:26

Mine like pop up pirates, buckaroo and kerplunk. 4 and 5.

Woolworths do loads for a very reasonable price, and their festive offer applies to the games if they are running it this year

Wallace · 20/10/2005 20:57

Not a board game but dd loves dominoes. with animals and numbers on one side, and traditional dots on the other (don't use the dots yet)

Also The House that Jack Built.

Furball · 20/10/2005 21:05

Another vote for Tummy Ache and also Shopping List Game. I was going to get hime Frustration for Christmas.

dazedandconfusedmum · 21/10/2005 04:25

The classics are still the best!! My five year old and four year old (next week) both LOVE snakes and ladders, pop n hop, and hungry hippos. Tesco sell their own brand of these games and they are cheaper than the MB games. Snakes and ladders was £3.97!!! Also, carefull of games with lots of bits that can get lost or a toddler (if you have one) can get hold of. Kerplunk is a fun game but the marbles go everywhere and the sticks have sharp ends!!
