I think it looks quite cool but I haven't seen it in the flesh... it is by \link{http://www.mamasandpapasonline.com/viewitem.php?code=3181522&defc=3181522&page=1&subcat=11414612&showtype=I/mamas and papas}

anyone seen it in the shops? and is babyboom a good online retailer?

looks like Connect 4 (or 3).

moondog · 10/10/2005 10:36

Pretty cool.
Worry about those ends though.....betcha it's MDF
(especially at that price...)

Urchin do a funky retro white curved thing with other furniture.

I lusted after that circular Stokke thing that converts into a sofa, lawn mower and floor polisher but made do with a family handmedown.....errrr heirloom.

JoolsToo · 10/10/2005 10:37

I don't dislike it but wouldn't pick myself - there again I'm an old git!

Kidstrack2 · 10/10/2005 10:41

Think its lovely, but again would say sides do look mdf would def buy if the wood is ok, but saying that all cots need to pass the normal regulations therefore it will be fine, I say go for it!

projectmanagerCOd · 10/10/2005 10:42

another cot pph?
will ds2 still eb in a cot when db arrives>

LIZS · 10/10/2005 10:42

Be fine with the right decor, probably white walls with lilac concentric circles would work well, in a minimalist nursery (no packets of nappies, wipres etc on view !) But not many people would have a room big enough to really carry it off and don't think it would work for a boy.

projectmanagerCOd · 10/10/2005 10:43

er think pph wodul
it can go int h east wing

moondog · 10/10/2005 10:45

At least it isn't emblazoned with hideous cartoon characters or sporting the naffest accesssory of all,the John Lennon mobile!!

Aaaaargh!!

(What the hell was Yoko thinking of?? Like she needs the dough.......huh!!)

LIZS · 10/10/2005 10:45

Thought that might be the case, lol -

SleepySuzy · 10/10/2005 10:49

Sorry, but I think it's ugly but maybe I am a bit old fashioned

CountessDracula · 10/10/2005 10:49

sorry it's hideous!

expatinscotland · 10/10/2005 10:53

It's different. Like JT, I wouldn't go for it personally but if it suits you then on you go.

GhostofNatt · 10/10/2005 10:55

Moondog, you don't want the stokke, the mattress is a mess, you can't get the sheets on easily and it converts to some stupid chairs that aren't very useful, not a patch on the highchair

QueenVictoria · 10/10/2005 10:58

Its nice. Not fore me though. You would have to make the whole room match with it though or it would look lost/silly.

princesspeahead · 10/10/2005 11:08

hmmmm. not sure. does it matter if the ends are MDF? They are obviously painted and sealed etc.

Coddy, ds2 won't be in a cot by then but he is the third one to be in my existing cheap and basic mothercare one, and it is currently being held together by some rather attractive surgical bandage holding the cot side to the end... It is definitely unsafe now!

There are lots of very nice traditional solid wood ones for about £350, but since this is my last baby I don't really feel inclined to spend much on it. It only needs to survive 2 years or so. The room is pretty big (about 20ft by 12 ft) but quite traditional. beamed ceilings and cath kidston-y flowery pink curtains. not minimalist! just thought this might be quite nice in there.... but need to see it I think.

Or maybe I'll just by a boring basic white cot...

OP posts:
princesspeahead · 10/10/2005 11:10

I also like the fact that the ends are quite solid - house can be a bit cold and drafty at times and those cots with rails all the way around look a bit chilly

teeavee · 10/10/2005 11:21

i prefer the yellow one to the lilac circular jobby

princesspeahead · 10/10/2005 11:23

yes maybe the yellow would be better. I can't tell if the "blush" is pink or lilac or somewhere in the middle.
this is the only other one I can find that I like but it is £250. Fine for a first baby, but pretty steep for a 4th.,..

OP posts:
teeavee · 10/10/2005 11:24

nope, the yellow one is nicer than that one, in my humble opinion

princesspeahead · 10/10/2005 11:25

I need to brave a mamas and papas shop and look at them don't I. sigh. I can feel a trip to bristol coming on...

OP posts:
mommapuff · 10/10/2005 11:30

I like the yellow one too. Anyway, if it's your last pph, just go for what you want. When I had ds2 I did buy a M&P change table with the baskets. Did I need it? No. But everything else was second hand and I enjoyed using it.
