I mean Ive driven past a used car place and seen a seat which looks like a seven seater but didn't have time to go and look at it yet

I dont mean just randomly driving past cars and then going back for a good nose Grin

I have one and I luuurve it - loads of space for all your stuff in the bcak if you take out the seats.

If you need car seats you can get 3 in the middle row as the seats are individual.

Its the same body and engine as both the Galaxy and Sharon but usually much cheaper. I think this is because Seat just isn't a very popular marque. If you need parts you can often use the Ford ones which are cheaper.

AFAIK its the only 7 seater that Seat do.

If you are randomly looking in cars mine is the one with all the mess Grin

mylifewithmangers · 15/12/2010 10:30

Sorry Trinity I've not got any idea about 7 seaters, but didn't want you to be alone in here...here...here (there's a bit of an echo) Grin

mylifewithmangers · 15/12/2010 10:31

Damn, you've got a legitimate poster now

scarletbegonia · 15/12/2010 10:33

'Lo Trinity. I looked at these when I was buying a seven-seater 2.5 years ago, to fit all three cubs in. They look good, and were part of a collaboration between Seat, Ford (galaxy) and VW (Sharan). I didn't buy one because I wanted a car where the rear seats folded into the floor, so bought a Mark 3 Galaxy for that reason.

It might also have been a Kia Sedona (here). I liked the look of these, it was a damn sight cheaper than the Galaxy and I see a lot of them on the school run round here. However, it failed for me because of the folding seats thing (though I was disappointed as it has sliding doors - woohoo!).

scarletbegonia · 15/12/2010 10:37

What reg is it ?

I've had more than one and the oldest did start to get little bits and pieces that needed fixing but you'd probably get that with any older car, it was about 10 years old.

I remember that the AA man once said that they have very good engines that last for ages.

ShrinkingViolet · 15/12/2010 10:42

I think it's the same car as the Citroen C8 (I have one and it's fab). If you're after a 7 seater, you really need sliding doors - a friend had a Galaxy which didn't and she always had terrible trouble gettign in and out of it, especially in supermarket car parks.

(yes, Alhambra = C8 = Fiat Ulysse, all the same underneath, just have different trim).

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 15/12/2010 10:42

not sure of anything about it yet
didn't even clock the reg Blush

poledra, hmm kia sedona looks good and I've always wanted sliding doors, so much easier on the school riun and well anywhere

I quite like the fact the seats come completely out though, means you kinda have a van too Smile

ShrinkingViolet · 15/12/2010 10:44

seats are quite big to store if you take them out though, and are on the heavy side to lift. But they fold up quite tidily - I can get five people plus a fortnight's luggage into ours, and not have things piled higher than the windows by folding away the two rear seats.

scarletbegonia · 15/12/2010 10:49

Yes, the seats are quite heavy, I'm tall enough and strong enough to take them in and out myself but its a good thing to consider. They are easy enough to fit but would be a good idea to test out. I keep mine in the garage as for day to day use I need the huge boot more than the extra seats.

Poledra · 15/12/2010 10:52

That was one of the things that bothered me, Scarlet - my garage is not exactly waterproof. Nor catproof come to that. So, taking the seats out and leaving in garage = handy cat motel for local moggies Grin

I often find muddy cat footprints over the bonnet and roof of my car where some feline has been using it as a handy snooze spot (prolly when the engine's still nice and warm). I bet he was really pissed off when I traded in the Saab for the Galaxy - Saab bonnets are just made for cats to sleep on, whereas the Galaxy bonnet's so steep it must be a form of Extreme Sport to nap on it.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 15/12/2010 11:06

I know the primary thing about cars is they do the job right but the kia sedona is a bit icky looking...

ok just found a number for the place I saw it and rang him to get the reg

its a T reg

is that awful and how much should it be ish
I know crazy questions, I'm looking on auto trader to try and get an idea but maybe or almost completely someon else will ne much better at this or just have the used car equivalent of 'The Knowledge' Grin

OP posts:
Poledra · 15/12/2010 11:13

A T reg is fairly old, but some of it depends upon its mileage, its fuel (diesels last better than petrols), what you want it for (long journeys vs short journeys) etc.

Try Glass's for a valuation.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 15/12/2010 11:18

short journeys, up and down to town at least three times a day just to do the school runs then maybe some 35 to 40 or so mile round trips

I think its diesel

am going to have a look at it and then I can put themileage into the galss thingy, thankyou for that

OP posts:
scarletbegonia · 15/12/2010 11:19

OK, T reg is pretty old, did you get the mileage and whether petrol or deisel.

For a car that old with average miles it looks like you should pay no more that £1,000 and possibly less depending on the condition.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 15/12/2010 11:21

oh bollocks the price is 1699

darn it

OP posts:
scarletbegonia · 15/12/2010 11:25

£1,699 - for a T reg ??

Is the car advertised on line, can you do us a link ?

That price doesn't sound right.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 15/12/2010 11:28

no its not online its a small delboy type guy in a village near us

but I kind of know him so could maybe haggle and get a warranty

I'm so shit as this kind of thing and I need to borrow the money from my dad so need to get it right

he wont allow no warranty, he needs it to be priced as it should be from finding out from places like parkers guide and such
I need to have test drove it, not a french car etc etc ugh

OP posts:
scarletbegonia · 15/12/2010 11:28

Actually, looking a bit further maybe its not such a high price if its from a garage. The ones I looked at earlier were private sales.

Have you done the link Polendra suggested ?

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 15/12/2010 11:30

I dont have the mileage at the mo
I could ring him again but would that appear too interested for reasons of maybe needing to haggle later?
