What does everyone think of this new stylee of Pampers? My hubby thinks they are TOO elasticy and might get pulled too tight too easily and pinch fat little legs. The old stylee ones just seem so stiff though but I'm still buying them.

i like them for older kids (eg usless ds1 still wet at nuight st 5)

eidsvold · 15/08/2003 19:23

used to use them but found Huggies adventurers much better...less stretchy but more secure onthe sides...

Having said that dd has cloth nappies most of the time but I just got a load of Pampers vouchers so will be using them to send along to nursery..

Chinchilla · 15/08/2003 19:30

I use Tesco's own brand, as I HATE Pampers. I like Huggies, but find that Tesco's are on a par, so I save some money that way!

gingernut · 15/08/2003 20:18

I like the Pampers, they seem to fit ds well (new shape as well as old shape). Tried Huggies but fit not so good. I think it depends on the individual child (shape of bum etc !). Tescos own gave ds eczema as did cloth nappies .

princesspeahead · 15/08/2003 20:23

my long held theory is that huggies fit girls better, and pampers fit boys better. pampers are more roomy around the crotch, making them comfy for boys but leaky for girls...

might be crap though

codswallop · 15/08/2003 20:27

LOl pph!

Davros · 15/08/2003 20:36

I'm going to try Huggies next time then...

I think they are crap!
I don't like to put DS2 in them at night as anything over a few hours of wear and he leaks out of them. He's not a big boy and the nappies I bought are the correct size for his weight but I think there is simply not enough nappie to absorb a night-time amount of wee.
I also don't like the fasteners on any Pampers nappies as I've had quite a few occaisions were they have stuck to their skin which is a nightmare, especially on a tiny baby in the middle of the night, I much prefer the velcro type ones on Huggies.
I only got them as his size in Huggies had sold out so I definatley won't be buying them again.

Claireandrich · 15/08/2003 21:41

I have always got on great with Pampers, more so than Huggies anyway (which always leaked on us with DD). Just moved onto the Easy Ups which we find great.

fisil · 15/08/2003 22:11

Love them. Ds's wee seeps out of anything else.

bobthebaby · 16/08/2003 08:47

In New Zealand, Huggies come in girl and boy varieties. Why do UK babies only need the one sort? Do you think they are secretly exactly the same.

neen99 · 16/08/2003 09:19

Used them for a while for ds and then they changed the shape to 'new natural form'. This just seemed to involve less padding!
Resulted in leaks at night a few times, and then seemed to settle down (ds must have just been weeing a lot at that time!)
Fine now, wouldn't like to go back to the normal Pampers style, have had one pack when Tescos ran out of Active Fit recently and they felt so tight and restricting round his hips.

eidsvold · 16/08/2003 10:38

same as australia bobthebaby - I think theyjust have the padding in different places....

Davros · 16/08/2003 12:58

I think we useed to have boy/girl ones but then went all fashionable and uni-sex, don't know if they're better tho

I used to use Tescos own-brand but switched to Pampers Active Fit just recently as the former started to leak poo. So far we have found them great, fewer leaks of poo anyway. DS likes the fact that the pictures change on each nappy as well.

BTW found NZ huggies seemed to shed more of that chemical stuff on the skin than nappies here - but not many other options there. Not sure why they have boy and girl options there, may depend on importer/licensee??

misdee · 16/08/2003 22:10

i currently am trialing some tots bots cloth nappies, and surprisingly i found they are better at night than huggies or pampers. my dd2, is a bih girl, i just found that she was leaking a lot at night whatever type of disposible i tried. now on the 3rd night of the totsbots and motherease wrap, and no leaks.
i tried the active fit, found them great, but they dont go up to the extra large size which my dd2 is now in. best fit daytime wise, i find, are the L+ huggies adventurers.

judetheobscure · 16/08/2003 23:26

I found Pampers better for my "fatter" babies and Huggies better for my slimline version. I;m glad they went back to unisex - saves having to have two sets of nappies in the changing bag - it all seems a bit of a gimmick to me. Pampers active fit fasteners are velcro so can't understand why they might stick.

Huggies in NZ are different to Huggies in the UK. I used to know a guy who worked at Kimberley Clarke (who make huggies) and he said that NZ/AUS Huggies are the same as the ones they used to have in the UK 6 or 7 years ago (Boy and Girl ones). When the Kimberley Clarke in the UK updated the technology to develop a better nappy and then went back to Unisex nappies they found that it was too expensive to do the same in Aus and NZ ... so here we have the old technology and the old nappies (which are really not as good as the UK ones) and even so disposable nappies are REALLY expensive compared to the UK. I will miss UK huggies when I have my baby but I don't think they would be able to bring in the new ones here as no one would be able to afford them.
I might even have to go green and do cloth ones ... eeeeek!

Ghosty · 17/08/2003 07:42

PS ... I started with Pampers when Ds was born nearly 4 years ago but switched to Huggies when he was 6 months ... because after I tried them I found huggies a billion times better than pampers.
Can't get Pampers in NZ so know nothing about the new active ones ....

misdee · 17/08/2003 08:34

ghosty, cloth is not as yukky as u think. i've only been using them a couple of days and find they hold better than disposiables.
oh no, i've gone all clothie and singing their praises already!!!

the amount i spend on disposiables (around £50 a month as dd1 is in the xl sizes and u get around 20 in a pack which dont last a week), i think going cloth is really gonna save me a fair few quid.

Bloss ... when did they birng back the unisex ones in Oz? The conversation I had with the Kimberly Clark bloke was about 3 years ago ....
Anyhow ... Huggies do not do unisex nappies in NZ ...
Maybe I will try cloth ones but what about all that soaking poo malarkey?? Or that another thread? I am not great with poo you see ... not even that of my own flesh and blood!!!!

eidsvold · 17/08/2003 12:03

ghosty I use disposables at night and if we are out and about - just for convenience sakes but during the day - cloth all the way... use muslin/fleece liners... pooey bits in the loo and the rest in a bucket with napisan solution - wash once a day or every second day and so easy.

I even have reusable - washable wipes from an idea my sil gave me.. brilliant - such a money saver.

Bloss not sure where you are in OZ but when we were in Brisbane earlier this year you could still get boys and girls nappies.

misdee · 17/08/2003 12:16

yeah washable wipes. i was thinking about this the other day. can anyone help me figure out how to do them?
