What does everyone think of this new stylee of Pampers? My hubby thinks they are TOO elasticy and might get pulled too tight too easily and pinch fat little legs. The old stylee ones just seem so stiff though but I'm still buying them.

Very good point Bloss. The cloth nappies seem to have a really good resale value. Whenever they appear on Ebay, & UK parents website have a buy & sell page for nappies, they tend to sell for over half their original purchase price.

If you are thinking about cloth but don't want to pay alot out up front just in case it doesn't work out, you could buy one or two secondhand (not as horrible as it sounds!) & give them a try out first. I would also agree about the prefold nappies - they are not as good at retaining runny poo. But bear in mind that pre-weaned babies' poo is runny, but (depending on the child) will usually firm up when eating solids. I can usually just lift the liner from the nappy & flush it away, but my DS had a sickness bug which made his poo squishy & yes it is a bit more messy - however, I try to shake off as much as I can & then just bung it in the nappy bucket (with water & tea tree oil). Once washed they clean up fine.

At the end of the day go with what suits you & your baby. As is apparent on this message board, there is no best way for everyone.

Oh also Bloss what is this Little Squirt - never heard of it over here. Is it on the internet anywhere. Sounds really interesting & I love little gadgets!

With my twin ds' now 19 months old I started with ASDA newborns which were fantastic but only worked for a few months before leaks began. Then I moved onto Tesco explorers, and now they get Pampers Active Fit daytime and Baby Dry nighttime. I found that the Tesco now leak as both my boys are tall and slim but with big chunky legs (definately rugby players )
The only problem is the expense, why do they have to be so damn expensive, especially hard on those of us buying double amounts of everything!

Paula71 · 20/08/2003 23:20

I should have said that I get vouchers sent regularly from Pampers which is one of the main reasons for buying them as it helps greatly! But as there are no leaks and no red bums then I'll stick with them!

Hi, we had everything to try from pre-folds to motherease via totsbots, nappy nation and another one. We had several of each in different sizes with fleece and paper liners, wraps galore and some using nappy nippas and some velcro ones. Everything you can imagine for a decent trial - I was so impressed with the service and so keen to be converted but it just didn't happen. Too many other things to do without extra nappy changing time, washing, drying and bright pink skin wherever his skin wasn't in contact with the fleece (I would say that the fleece was brilliant). Sorry everyone.

Harrysmum, I do know of lots of mums who have waited to use cloth until their baby is weaning because the number of changes reduces dramatically. Maybe that's a possiblity once the first few months are over?

I really grudged the thought of £1000 of my money slowly filling up a landfill over 2/3 years when I could spend £200, and spend the rest on a holiday or something.

Thanks Bloss for mentioning Little Squirt - probably won't get one but it did give me the idea to use the shower head attachment on the bath tap (don't know why I didn't think of it before). Trouble is I could do with an extra hand to switch the tap on/off. Having used it though I can appreciate just how useful a Little Squirt would be with that one handed trigger.

Oh My Goodness - I have been unlucky enough to have bought a pack of Active Fit with the note inside that says "The Pampers Team are working to improve our products.... blah blah blah... a new product in this bag you have bought.. We would like to hear what you think...etc."

What a load of rubbish!.. I am so annoyed at Pampers. Can they do this... can they just change the product for something inferior.. charge the same amount and not even have a warning on the outside of the packaging saying that they have changed the product?"

The nappies are thin and flimsy and seem to have about half of the usual absorbent pad in them. They leak after just a measly 2 hours.... I've just had to get my 9 month old DS up and change him, wash him and strip my bed. it took me and hour to get the poor little might settled again. So much for the Pampers "Golden Sleep" slogan!. What are we supposed to do... wake our dear little ones up every hour and 30 mins during the night to change them! My DS hadn't even peed that much, the nappies are just so bad that they hardly hold anything!

WARNING TO ALL..... There is no way of telling until you open the pack, whether or not you've got the "new improved design" (which actually means ... the new cheaper to make version, which is worse value for money because they don't work!)

Like thehappyprince above... I will now be switching to another brand... and I'll be on the phone to Trading Standards first thing on Monday morning.... I want to know where I stand about getting a refund. I've only got this one large pack of Active Fit 4's in the house, it's 11 o'clock at night, my husband's working abroad and I'm stuck with these useless nappies. I've got my DS sleeping on a folded towel so when the next one leaks at least the bed covers will be saved.

If Pampers wanted to trial a nappy they should have sent them out free of charge!... NAUGHTY NAUGHTY PAMPERS!.

I got one of those cards and to be honest I cant see the difference, they didnt leak even when dd slept 5.30 until 8 the next morning.

I suppose they might have changed the shape slightly so that they dont suit your ds anymore.
