SamboM · 11/08/2003 16:55

16 pushchairs? Where do you put them all? Why do you keep buying all these pushchairs? The pram makers must love you!!

sliverx2 · 11/08/2003 17:13

I have 1 all-singing all-dancing 3 wheeler thing and am going to buy a second buggy for travelling. It was the only piece of equipment I spen about 3 months choosing!

mieow · 11/08/2003 17:30

I have had 14!!!!! OMG didn't want to count them up. I have 5 at present 2 disabled buggies, DD2 has 2, one for each car, and a double buggy.

SamboM · 11/08/2003 17:44

I am amazed at all this multiple buggyness! I have two, one for shopping the other for dog walking (3 wheel thing). I suppose when I have a second baby (if) I will have to buy another one.

IMO the very WORST thing about having kids is all the equipment, I try not to buy anything unless it is absolutely necessary.

codswallop · 11/08/2003 17:46

Yu need to get out more and get your toddlers to walk!

codswallop · 11/08/2003 17:47

I have one pram and one buggy. Have three kids under 5

One child, pram/pushchair number 6. But, 2 were maclaren daytrippers that got knackered in 6 months as I travel a lot and I'm "hard" on pushchairs. The highly expensive Mamas + Papas 3-in-1 lasted for 18 months (with a couple of plikos for travelling) but DD looked silly in it after that. We passed on one of the Plikos and a Maclaren, sold the M+P, binned the other Maclaren and currently have the Mothercare "Princess" buggy, which is definitely the "in" buggy for girls in liverpool.

My mother averaged out at 7 prams per child. They just get tatty looking and boring after a while!

codswallop · 11/08/2003 19:17

I ma still stunned - our maclaren is on ds3 - bugger what it looks like Id rather spend 100 quid on me!

as for trends in pushchairs - my life..........

sliverx2 · 11/08/2003 19:32

Me and my partner love spending time together rather than going out, nor do we smoke or drink we have money that we chose to spend on what we like best "pushchairs" some poeple might think that sad but i'm shaw to find something in there life that i consider to be sad. my house is very nice my boys are more than well taken care of we are currantly not saving anythink so why not?

i agree with sliverx2 with that one, alot of people have hobbies and spend hundreds of pounds on them, which is what all this is it's a hobbies your just not seeing it that way, just remeber you can only buy pushchairs when you have babies so enjoy it while you can, it not like it will last forever, just dont get into debt for it.

codswallop · 11/08/2003 19:41

yep fine - but you did ask!

codswallop · 11/08/2003 19:41

what happens when they arent in them anymore?

sliverx2 · 11/08/2003 19:45

hoildays, as i've not been on one for 2 years as it was far to much hard work with a toddeler,

OP posts:
codswallop · 11/08/2003 19:46

Much better idea! Dont be tempted to get a new buggy tho!

sliverx2 · 11/08/2003 19:47

i cant because if the child dosen't fit the child dosen't fit, i'm not going to froce him into one

OP posts:
sliverx2 · 11/08/2003 19:53

i have a toddeler yes, but i cant make him walk he's alittle over a year old been walking for 4 month but still way to young to make him start walking along sid me when out and about.

Methinks someone is 'extracting the urine' here surely......?

codswallop · 11/08/2003 20:15

I thought so too.

Enid · 11/08/2003 20:30

If you are genuine I think you are mad. I have two children roughly the same age and have two buggies, one three-wheeler for walks and one maclaren for town and shopping. I've had the 3 wheeler since dd1 was born (best money I ever spent on baby equipment, its brilliant) and the Maclaren Techno ever since dp ran over the Maclaren Daytripper in the car. Dd1 is 3.5 and she is expected to walk everywhere, if she is really really tired she sits on the front of the three wheeler.

Sometimes I carry dd2 in a sling (10 months but small).

Do you have this spending obsession in other parts of your life or is it just buggies?

marialuisa · 11/08/2003 21:16

Oh dear, the "trend" comment was meant light heartedly, as it's a cheap buggy obviouly loads of people have one, and Mothercare change the patterns all the time (all still vile) hence why the things are everywhere. And the Daytripper was a really sorry sight with a chunk missing from the front wheel after an incident with a train door. I don't think they're designed for anyone who walks about 5 miles a day which I was at the time!

So, congrats if you can make them last more than a few months but sometimes you can't, especially if you can't drive to town.

bossykate · 11/08/2003 21:37

troll outbreak?
