Righty ho.....
George is far superior to Vax in its wet cleaning action.. he works on the same principle of industrial carpet cleaners that you can hire from a tool hire place. I bought him to valet all my cars, which he did brilliantly! (well, with a little help from me!!)
You just have to be very careful that you don't pull hard on the external hoses, cause when they come out it takes about 2 hours of sweating and grazed knuckles to get the hose reattached (on the inside of the hose)
I have absolutely no complaints with his dry hoovering ability on any floor, but that may be because I have a rather odd hoovering technique... I use the small brush just on the end of the hose and hoover on my hands and knees - suits my achy back better than using the handle!!! However, DP who is very anal about all things mechanical and the right tool for the right job and can not bear to use anything that does not function properly in some way (he really is anal) thinks Henry and George are fab. Henry is currently helping him hoover out the loft - not a job most cleaners could deal with! His only comment on either of them is they could do with a free running ring around their middle so they don't get stuck on door frames - thats not bad compared to what he has to say about most things!
There are 2 main disadvantages to George - he is rather bulky to store so you need a wheel in/wheel out cupboard - and one with a lot of space - you get two of everything with George - wet hose/dry hose and wet bucket/dry filter and they have to go somewhere. Secondly, his cable doesn't wind in like Georges - you just have to wind it around his hat and hope it stays there.
Or you could be smiley faced hoover freaks like us - we already had a Henry so we just put Henrys motor (the black bit) on George so now we can wind his cable in
(imagine the size of our cupboard that stores both Henry and George!!)
And if after all that you are interested in George, I can tell you how to get him for just £164
