Rickman, I absolutley agree. Those blanket things are indescribably(sp?) tacky and downright awful.

The worst one I've ever seen was white satin, huge amounts of lace with a royal blue and gold boxing glove design in the centre.

lol cod! Must admit that I feel strangely free when I go out with just two older children or with baby ds in a sling. Still searching for the perfect buggy though......

nutcracker · 30/08/2005 09:02

Cod how dare you be so insulting about prams and pushchairs, what did they ever do to you

sweetkitty · 30/08/2005 09:03

I have noticed since moving back to Scotland that the trend around here is for "big prams" like Silver Cross and Emmaljunga. I have seen a lot of cream ones as well (mad in Scottish weather I think). A lot of them must be 3 in 1's as they have a full lie down flat pram for babies and forward facing buggy type seats for toddlers. I feel a bit inadequate with my Techno XT. I don't know how people get in and out shops, buses etc with these big prams as it's bad enough with a buggy.

Misdee has convinced me to get a Phils and Teds next though

sweetkitty · 30/08/2005 09:04

Oh I hate the lace and frills blankets things as well, they are popular around here along with heart shaped lace mobiles with babies name on them of "football teams" youngest fan

misdee · 30/08/2005 09:05

sweetkitty

its a good pram, but it is slightly longer than a average single buggy, and sometimes i forget and hot things its nowhere near as big as other tandems tho. i can get it through most doors, but my zapp wont fit through a single door at the hospital, i have to open them both up.

I am with Cod - I cant wait to ditch the buggy/stroller. As DS2 currently weighs around 30lbs and is not yet walking confidently I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be encumbered for a while yet.

nutcracker · 30/08/2005 09:14

Mine is going at xmas i think.

I only really use it on the way to school now as Ds likes to walk to collect the girls.

It will be wierd, and my mom is going to have to learn to carry her shopping instead of overloading my buggy

My mum bought a new top cover for the Silver Cross pram that she had used for me and my sister, when my dd was born - so it was approximatley 28 years old. I had already bought a 3 in 1 with a separate carry cot, but not a "real" pram, so she would not use it and she did not like the swivel wheel. When dd was too big for it, she got my dad to put it away for the next child. (I have broken the news that I have bought a three wheeler with a carry cot that I intend to use on most long walks, not shopping because the basket is not big enough and it is 20 miles to the nearest decent shops.)

It was amazing the comments she got when out and about with it, because the styles have not changed a great deal, people were asking her where she got it from!!

nightowl · 30/08/2005 18:02

but i luuuurrrrrvvveee buggies (dont do prams). i had four with ds and just two now with dd (unless you count the other two i need to sell).
my graco travel system was a load of c**p so i bought a new buggy which is so much better to push, folds up very nicely and is very light. im like a man, on a sunday i wash the covers and polics the frame outside my house

nightowl · 30/08/2005 18:03

polish even.....

starshaker · 30/08/2005 18:09

my friend had a gorgeous baby blue leather pram never got to use it

PeachyClair · 30/08/2005 18:19

There's some nice bright ones about now, see a gorgeous orange 9as in BRISGHT) three wheeler around, but can't be doing with these all-the-same navy and grey ones. We HAD to have a navy one (ie pram broke and it was all we could afford as it was in sale), really hanker after the old yellow and black graco sport we used to have- much nicer.

misdee · 30/08/2005 19:28

oh dear, i am watching a silver cross sporting green coach built pram on ebay.

LOL

Yes I am starting this Sept, on the 13th to be exact, and yep I sorted out Ds's nursery place at the college nursery and the dd's after school place, plus applied for a grant for books and stuff.

Also in Jan Ds will start 2 full days at local nursery giving me 2 full days all to myself shock.

Honestly though, yep i am happy about it and looking forward to some me time, although i'm not sure what it actually is LOL.
