i would have loved one for Jess, but ill have to suffer with my GORGEOUS silver marco sky!

misdee · 29/08/2005 21:20

it was gorgeous pram, proper decent one, but even she admitted she was mad.

was chatting to her outside the canteen, her dad is in the hospital, and she had a baby boy same age as dd3.

i once saw awoman witha pink pram. she was also wearing four inch stilletos, which made her too tall for the pram, and have to bend over, bad for back. she was also wearing skimpy top and tiny ra ra miniskirt. it was a freezing cold day. looked very strange amongst all the tourists in madame tussauds queue

Totally agree Cod. Could never understand why it was necessary to trawl all the pram shops within a twenty mile radius. We got ours second hand from relatives, then bought a new (cheapy) one cos it was easier for the car. Went to the local Mothercare, bought it, came home.

Then - a year later, buy a buggy and don't look back.

I have to say I disagree cod.

You need to have a good pram if you are a walker.

Since having my dd, I walk into town as much as I can for the exercise and do my shopping. Buggys shopping storage is just not good enough and they never roll along as smooth as buggys. We only use the car for long journeys like visiting parents. If i cant walk, I ride my bike.

I notice a lot of lazy mums who drive daiky to their local shops and drive kids to school that is less than a mile away only have buggys. Guess they dont walk much!

Cod - most prams are indeed naff but a few are a source of deep, deep pleasure. I'm not into designer ones at all but loved my Phil and Teds double buggy, and am seriously considering 'the tug'. When my two are two big I might well keep buying buggies just to put my messages/shopping in.

Wouldn't have a white one though - that's plain barking .

zippy539 · 29/08/2005 21:45

Ah, hang on - are we talking 'proper' prams or buggies? If 'proper' prams then I agree - very naff...

I just made my comment as you said they are chavvy and I dont think they are. Whether your pram is one or ten years old, I think all mums need prams if they are the fit kind who walk most places as buggys are just not up to scratch for that kind of use. I own a buggy too which we keep in our car boot for day out trips.

I just found out im pregnant with mu second child so I will be using my dd's pram which is still in good nick.

misdee · 29/08/2005 21:48

i lvoe proper prams, as feel that babies are so much cosier in them and i prefer my babies to lie flat. tho i have a phil and teds, i really wish i had space for a proper pram.

rickman - lol!

i saw one of those the other day and the poor toddler inside had ears full of rings and necklace!!!

paolosgirl · 29/08/2005 21:50

Lovecloud - for those of us who don't live near shops (so have to drive to them), and who work miles away from home(so had to drop the kids at nursery) a buggy was a necessity. It wasn't because we weren't fit or were too lazy I'll have you know! [hands on hips emoticon]

misdee · 29/08/2005 21:51

gold ribbon and lace, thats sounds hideous. i threatened to get a silver cross coachbuilt pram lol.

when i say pram i dont mean those massive old fashioned prams where the baby lies flat. I am taking about all the forward facing prams like mamas and papas and graco etc.

my pram is mamas and papas, i bought it because it is so light and i can open and fold it with one hand... and foot which i practiced when heavily pregnant. alot of my friends bought really heavy prams which they found too difficult to fold and put in their boots and too bulky on buses so they all ended up buying those annoying mc claren buggys that always fall back with the weight of a small handbag.

nannyjo · 29/08/2005 21:53

i had to use the proper prams when i was training and i found the impossible to steer. do you mean the old style big wheeled type things??

zippy539 · 29/08/2005 21:53

Can we just define what we mean by 'pram' and 'buggy'. By 'pram' I mean a great big thing which lies flat no matter what - by 'buggy' I mean anything (from sturdy to flimsy - and which may well lie flat) but in which the child is generally sitting. What sort are you talking about Lovecloud? (You've got me on my favourite subject )

nannyjo · 29/08/2005 21:53

sorry crossed threads, that answers my Q.

zippy539 · 29/08/2005 21:54

Sorry - cross posted.

paolosgirl · 29/08/2005 21:55
