Viagra advice

My DH has been having difficulties for a while and has decided it's time to give medication a go. I'm aware there are medications other than Viagra.

Ideas of what to try first and dosage. He has no health conditions or other medication. Definitely won't see someone in person so we will be buying online so looking for a reputable site.

I've looked at these and still haven't got a clue. I was hoping for recommendations.

@birtey

not every medication will work for every man

both of those sites have click by click consultations that will walk your DH through the process and options available and come up with a recommendation, if that doesn’t work you can try another option etc

MisterT373 · 07/04/2024 21:40

I'm 61 and not in good shape. I take 100mg Viagra 20 mins before fun time. Also make sure I haven't had too much fatty food beforehand. Afterwards I get acid reflux but it's a small price to pay.

Ianzi · 07/04/2024 22:40

Have you tried natural remedies first? A change in diet and lifestyle could help massively. Few things to explore are watermelon juice, ginseng, maca root, and nuts especially almonds to increase the sperm count. I think you should explore these things first and if nothing works then go down the route of viagra.

CagneyAndLazy · 08/04/2024 00:33

The husband of a couple we used to swing with occasionally used generic/unbranded tadalefel (spelling might be off) and I know for a fact he got it from a site called Dr Fox because the name stuck in my mind due to the unfortunate link with that creepy DJ.

That one is much longer lasting than viagra apparently - lasts 24hrs or more!

birtey · 08/04/2024 11:00

So we just ordered on Lloyds pharmacy. They won't process the order with my DH sending the proof of identification ie drivers license/passport. He's reluctant to give them this information. Is this normal for them to ask for this?

OP posts:
CagneyAndLazy · 08/04/2024 11:18

I wouldn't know @birtey , sorry. I can ask DH to ask the man I mentioned, though, if that helps.

I suppose it makes sense that it is needed, but understand your reluctance to be sharing documents like those.

Will also take a look on Dr Fox site myself and see if it mentions there that ID is needed, as am going to have a look on there today to see what cystitis treatments they do (lucky me 😂)

CagneyAndLazy · 08/04/2024 11:28

@birtey it says this on Dr Fox:

Are identity checks needed?

Regulators require online clinics implement an identity checking process. Sexual health treatments and some other treatments are exempt in many cases. Identity checks may involve uploading photo ID and/or performing a soft credit check.

increased sperm count might help with infertility, but not ED.

increased sperm count might help with infertility, but not ED.

Usually the same conditions that causes ED affect sperm count as well and the are several factors that overlap, so the best way to go about it is try and fix both of them.

I’m sorry, but l have little time for the embarrassment factor of men when it comes to sorting things out.

Medics exist for a reason.

Women have to put up with regularly being poked around for our sexual health and rightly so. But for men, if something isn’t working as they or their partners would like, they have to take responsibility too.

CagneyAndLazy · 08/04/2024 13:21

With respect @StarlightLady , unless I've missed something there's no embarrassment angle to this.

The man doesn't want send scan copies of his identity documents via the internet, presumably for security reasons.

BigDecisionWorthIt · 08/04/2024 18:27

Pharmica is a good, reputable site to use and I don't believe there are requirements to scan in documents on there.

Which to try depends on your sex life and how active.

For Sildenafil/viagra it will be good to take it around 1 hour before hand. The effects will last around 4-8 hours.
Starting out, would be good to start with the standard 50mg dose and adjust if needed.

For Tadalafil/Cialis again good to take around the 1 hour beforehand. The effects of this will last 36 hours. It comes in standard 10 or 20mg doses.
Also available in a 5mg daily dose too.

Mysticguru · 08/04/2024 18:41

I would advise physical check up at the GP's, include prostate examination, blood test etc.

These things don't stop working without a reason.

The GP can prescribe Viagra/Cialis if everything is normal.

Of course it is,they have a duty of care to ensure that the person ordering really is the same person

That’s not really a true statement, ED and low sperm count are not often linked, sperm count has been declining in men for years, often linked to chemicals in the environment.

ED is more often linked to physical issues such as age , obesity, heart problems, diabetes, stress, obesity etc

I've looked at these and still haven't got a clue. I was hoping for recommendations.

Here's my experience; I'm mid fifties, fit and healthy, non smoker moderate drinker. Was finding it taking longer to get full erection so decided to try the medications.

Viagra- its great and gives a notably firmer ( more pumped) erection. Do follow the instructions as best on empty stomach and take several hours before- I found 2-3hrs about right. It can have side effects and I've heard about upset stomachs, vomiting etc but i suffered very bad migraines the morning after and this put me off using it- although i do question if that was a trade off worth making!! A local chemist will ask the necessary questions and provide you a 'pass' to buy; don't be embarrassed.

Tadalafil, gives a good enough erection and seems to sensitise you so its possible to have multiple erections and if in the mood go a second time straight through. It works much quicker than viagra, within 30 minutes so not as much planning needed. It does stay in blood stream for over 24 hrs and with the ease of getting aroused this can be both a good or bad thing- ok if you have a free day but not so good if you're planning on going out- personally i couldn't use on holiday as being by the pool would be a no go!! You can get easily online from companies such as Numan without giving too much personal info.

The above is just my experience and I'm still looking for a better solution, I haven't got round to trying the gels/creams yet.

Good luck!

This isn’t really true, if a man presents with ED, he might get a vigara prescription ( which is pointless really as viagra is non prescription in the UK), but he would not get a prostate check or a blood test as a matter of course

there is also no national screening program for men for prostate issues for men - which is really pretty awful

part of the reason men are not being “poked” (no pun , but true), is that there is no screening programme for men in the same way women have

Wakemeup17 · 08/04/2024 23:33
  1. Tadalafil
  2. Viagra
  3. Cock ring

Also, I'm another one that thinks this is ridiculous and he should go and see a GP. Either he wants to have a boner or not. Would he not expect the OP to go and "get sorted" if it was her having problems?
What is he exactly afraid of with submitting the documents? That someone will know it's him needing it? Surely looking at Pfizer share prices, he's not the only one in the world needing ED meds?
Check up with the GP is also needed as ED problems are an early indicator for cardiovascular issues.

MalewhoisLaffinalltheway · 09/04/2024 12:19

Try The Independent Pharmacy based in Bristol. You'll have to google them or email [email protected]

No ID needed, just some simple questions.

Jc2001 · 09/04/2024 13:39

You can go into any pharmacy and talk to them but he does need to man up and have a face to face conversation.

The GP will do a blood test before prescribing sildenafil.
