are sex toys actually good?

I have never owned or tried one but the mumsnet thread about sex toys has me thinking. I’m curious, but I have mixed feelings as I would like to try one BUT:

1. I don’t like the idea of them. Of owning one, cleaning it and storing it. The idea someone might find it
2. I found my mother’s sex toy as an older child/teenager and was pretty scarred by that
3. DH has a very big penis so I’m not sure what there is to be gained. But I can’t get off during sex itself so maybe a little vibrator would be nice? I also don’t want him to be offended as I’ve always been quite vocal that I’m not interested in them/feel a bit embarrassed that I’m curious now.

Are they actually good? Do they make that much of a difference? I’m happy with our sex life I suppose with small children I just find the same old initiation of sex a bit boring but don’t see another option.

Well how do you feel about your derriere?
