I think it has very slightly improved.I hope this isn't wishful thinking.
My partner is quite afraid to touch me in case I'm hurt again now. :( as it seems to be from a sexual injury. I've never had anything like this happen.
Anyway, the story goes- I pursued it and I did begin B12 supplements
I was referred to a psychosexual clinic via my GP. She recommended a book-I read it and although marginally interesting it was very basic and very heteronormative-lots of talk about how a lot of men don't understand women's bodies and how to 'train' them and much more talk about how we don't get to know our OWN bodies (not applicable to me fortunately!). The therapist was lovely but I just didn't feel anything she recommended were applicable to me-it may have had a psychological element but I knew there was a physical issue.
I've been through a lot with my body and never has anything like this happened before!
When things didn't improve and I was getting frustrated in more ways than one I had my smear test reminder. I don't go to the GP for smear tests, I usually go to the local GUM clinic as they're much more adept at doing them effectively and painlessly.
I decided to book an appointment and see if I could speak to them about this issue at the same time.
My local one unfortunately told me they no longer did smear tests and to go to the GP. They wouldn't see me for the sensation issue either, because it wasn't an STI nor pregnancy issue. I did state that I'd much rather not go to the GP for either issue, and they told me to try a similar clinic in a neighbouring town.
I went. The consultant was wonderful. She examined me and told me I have a blunt force trauma issue to my vagina and moderate-to-severe damage to my pelvic floor. She couldn't fully explain why my clitoris is affected but she did emphasise that the nerves and pathways are closely connected and she could see how it could happen.
I do feel a bit of a jobsworth as I know there are many, many women facing far worse issues and damages to their bodies than this. But she referred me to a pelvic physiotherapist and a specialist gynecologists'. That was mid-September and I am still waiting. She did tell me that for the pelvic physiotherapist I may be better off going private as there are just not many of them-so I was surprised to hear back from one straight away-who then told me they 'didn't do this sort of thing' and that they'd refer me back to the GP to go to a gynecologist-which I already knew was happening anyway! So I am still on the waiting list for that. I will chase it up this morning now this thread has reminded me.
So yes, that's where I am at, thank you for asking.
It isn't important in the great scheme of things of course, but it is, or should be, for us all.
