If it's one that charges from a USB-type adaptor, buy a portable powerbank (such as you would use to emergency-charge your phone when out and about). Then you don't need to have it anywhere near a mains socket.

We buy toys for eachother. I wouldn't be happy if other half bought one to keep without telling me. We are very open with each other which is a key to strong relationship.

I'm assuming the OP doesn't have a particularly good relationship tbh so all the replies of 'why don't you just tell him' should tale into account there is probably more to this that the OP doesn't want to share.
