Thought I would start a new thread for all of us whose year 6 dc are taking 11+ or selective entrance tests this term ( and who don't want to soend hours with the obsessives on the elevenplusforum )

My DS started Y6 yesterday and told me that many of his classmates are already talking non-stop about the exams and it made him nervous already

He will face a full battery of grammar and independent school tests starting from Sept through until Jan. I have bulk ordered the Gin and Tonics from Tescos already

We are going to the Drs again on monday if she isnt better to get a letter, they were very supportive.

With appeals, in this part of Kent, not enough girls (dunno about the boys) pass the Kent test, last year out of 165 spaces they had 60 odd left. Therefore, kids who failed the test, but came close on at least 2 of the test scores, and who have good school work can appeal. There were 90 odd appeals for those places.
They do do a headteacher appeal too if the score is close enough, there's an English paper that the kids do that they use for that, plus school books.
My dd's last sats are 5c 5c and 4a for maths so she is able enough to handle the grammar, her head teacher has already said that she would suppot an appeal and come along etc.
Just because they can't score high enough on some antiquated tests, it shouldnt stop them from going to the best school for them
DD is a bit of a square, studios etc, she would fit in well
If she doesnt get in, she will do great at the local comp, but its where she wants to go, its where I went, as did her birth mother and, I thnk she will love it
