What is your schools policy on prevention of forced arranged marriage of students?

JoeyF · 31/08/2009 19:13

What is your school's policy on the protection of teenage girls (and boys) from forced arranged marriage, spotting danger signs and stopping these from occuring abroad or in the uk.... bearing in mind we are talking 1000s of victms a year forced by parents into what is effectively sex slave trafficing little different to that done by east european groups forcing teenage girls into prositition away from thir country.

Where threats of violence, honour killing, ostracistion, taking victems abroad under the guise of holidays then taking their passport in remote areaa ar common place.

And what is the policy of aiding rescue of any student beleived to have been 'disappeared' in one of these situation?

Bearing in mind culture, tradition, relgion cannot ever be respected if it is supporting rape and abuse...

This can be done to girls as young as 12 in particular regarding pakistan, Bangladesh, Afganistan

This is not being racist either as you are not born with any culture, relgion or tradtion its something you choose just like choosing to be a hippy, goth, football fan, or surfer as opposed to a member of the KKK national front, football thug, gang member etc.

Likewise a policy on supporting a students right to date and form relationships regardless of their brother or parents wishes.

Also any policy on what to do if a tacher suspects a girl may be indanger of female circumcsion/female genital mutilation?

Look it up FGM

You are saying that forced marriage and FGM are bad - and I doubt there's many posters would disagree with you on that.

You asked for policies, and some posters gave you some from their experience. I would agree BTW that these would fall under a school's child protection policy.

So I just don't get why you are attacking people. And accusing them of being involved

catinthehat2 · 31/08/2009 23:20

"slavoury"

I like that word, it brings to mind a subservient Cheesy Wotsit

quote You seem to lack a balanced proportional point of view.

Ok please explain how you are supposed to have a balanced and proportional point of view after watching videos of people battered to death by rocks for having concentusl sex and watching vidoes of interviews with girls as young as 11 having had to pour boiling oil on themselves and set themselves on fire to escape rape slavoury

You are not alone in thinking forced marriage is wrong.

Clearly here I am as you and others sy anyone against it is a nutcase racist

quote
However, you will not gain anyone's support insulting them,

The words pot and kettle come to mind

I started by posting information for a discussion on the subject.

its you and several other posters doing the insulting mate and not sticking to the topic in hand

Quote
making presumtious statements about them or being insulting.

Again pot and kettle you are the guys turning this one isto a slanging match Id prefer peole discussing the issues

You need to see the wider picture.

Oh really and you pro points supporting honour killing, teen exectutions by torture and forced sex salve trafficing arranged marriage are what exactly?

BTW- why are you also suggesting teaching primary school children about the Inquisition on another thread? I would have thought it inappropriate and frightening for a young child.

Yes you tell them this is what christianity is all about and what it did to girls then they wont want to be christians any more and wont see the pope, nuns or priests as moral anymore then go tell their parents to stop being christians any more and if enough people stop then maybe peopl wont be abused any more.

Or at least the chruch is not viewed as anything moral or perfect

quote
Maybe you have an obsession with the wrong things.

Oh really so lets see instead of campaiging for humans rights andgetting people to think intelligently instead of name calling

I should dedicate myself to reading about Jordan and Peter, big brother, getting pissed and high and fighting over football teasm then saying anyone who brings up serious issues for discussion or supports humsn rights campaigns who unlike you did their homework and has lots of inof is a nutdjob, pervey racist even though tey are sticking up for those of different races?

Again look at twhat you are writing in a litteral manner.

Ie I dont look at say somone gettng stoned in a cultural or regious manner I just see some poor girl getting her face smashed in and unlike you I givea damn and want it stopped.

For the crime of defending damsels in distress I get name called.

For someone who claims to want to prevent the abuse of women and girls you do seem to be going into a lot of enthusiastic slobbering detail about it.

Actually, for info., arranged marriages and forced marriages are treated differently under UK law.

Arranged marriages are legal but under the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007 various legal remedies exist to prevent forced marriages and safeguard vulnerable people.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has a special unit for Forced Marriage (since 2005) and its website here contains guidance on the law, the definition of a forced marriage, the responsibilities of government agencies including education and health professionals etc. and various resources for people who need help.

Mamazon · 31/08/2009 23:31

and again you have ignored my attempt to offer you reasoned debate.

it is verey clear that this is not what you want at all.
you want a soap box on which to spout your ramblings.

your only posts are always about violance in some form or another and quite frankly i think you need to see someone as you are obviously a very unwell man.

your obsession with the macabre is unnerving and it concerns me that you walk the streets unsupervised.

and yet oddly i reckon this will be the only one of my posts that gets a response

onefunkymama · 31/08/2009 23:31

I can't understand a lot of what you have typed. I have no wish to continue this discussion with you. Religion seems to be a bug bear to you and you seem obsessed with any possible link between religion and sex abuse.

What you have said about people on MN is downright insulting. You are failing totally to look at any of the issues surrounding the topic that you are apparently so desperate to single handedly solve.

Whatever support you have been given in the form of people saying they don't condone forced marriages has been thrown back in people's faces. And you are accusing people of child abuse. You appear to be a nutter like it or not that's how you look.

Only someone with a problem would spend so much time and energy stirring on MN. I have other things to do..

Bye, night night, sod off

Unfortunately I don't want to discuss issues. I want to discuss snack food. I prefer Walkers Ready Salted, but would love to hear about other people's favourite potato based snacks?

Mumsnetters, over to you.....

Fallen madonna... look closely at who started insulting who first

Who started attacking who first.

Whoses posts are full of info, reasoning and links and whos are just character attacking and name calling.

And you get yo answer.

Also as you can see many posters here dont think fgm, forced arranged marriage and hnour killing are bad at all... they fully support it by attacking anyone against it how is brining it to peoples attention.

Incidenly not seeing any of these actually policies only that schools have some but dont mention what they actually are.

ie is it a ploicy for the parents to under go lie detector tests to see if thy beleive in family honour and arranged marriage and if so the kids get taken into care.

And are kids throught to be indanger given something with a tracking device so if they are taken for a trip to be so called married it can transmit gps coordinates so a comando squad can be sent to rescue the girl and kill her family and all others in the ares involved.

those I define are proper polices

i think you are actually a poor boy thats been forced to marry his ugly cousin. thast why your so against it.

either that or you've watched so many James Bond films you actually believe that commando squads just sit around waiting for soemthing to do.

honestly MNHQ - can we not get this guty some help? he really concerns me. there is no way he should be allowed to remain free to roam.
he is clearly a danger to himself and others.

Well, actually your second post was rather aggressive in tone. And there had only been one response by then. So...

Lie detector tests? To see if a family believes in family honour and arranged (not forced) marriage? And if they do their children are taken into care?

And commando squads and execution?

Heavens.

Mamazon · 31/08/2009 23:47

but stewie - these policies are not far reaching enough for joey.

he wants all asian girls implanted with tracking devices so that commando squads can follow them and murder their families

anything less just aint butter

Quattrocento · 31/08/2009 23:48

I really can't engage with someone who can't spell the word 'belief'. I'd try harder if it weren't for the sneaking suspicion that I would be engaging with a member of the BNP

I like pringles myself - my secret vice - but I'm not sure they qualify as potato based snacks.

onefunkymama · 01/09/2009 00:00

No, Pringles were ruled (in the Court of Appeal) to be a potato based snack and therefore be liable to VAT following a massive lawsuit. So Pringles do count as potato based snacks.

catinthehat2 · 01/09/2009 00:03

I blimmin hate Pringles. I particularly object to that Once you Pop you can't Stop thing. And that cartoon face.
