We find out via email on Monday. Emails will be sent at 00:01 but it will take some time for them to get through a list I suppose.

I am really nervous about it even though we are in catchment and should be ok.

Dd didn't agree with the school I put for 2nd choice though so her reaction will not be good if she doesn't get first choice.

We got ours yesterday (Lancashire) via email first thing and then the letter came in the post. We got our first choice, I think most of DS1's friends did.

We got ours today, was not expecting it til Tuesday, was shaking as i opened it with DD2.She got in to her first choice and i was so relieved i burst into tears(have had to fight for all other school places for dd1 and 2 previously)

Khara · 28/02/2009 15:15

Got it today - very relieved as we got first choice.

bubblerock · 28/02/2009 15:16

Thanks Christy, the schools up here are pretty much all the same unless you can pay for an independent school so it wasn't too traumatic for us, I really feel for those with failing schools in their catchment, the wait must be awful.

Glad you got your choice too Totallyfloaty!

CrackerNut · 28/02/2009 15:20

Congrats to all who got the school they wanted

I'm so scared reading these. We get ours on Tuesday....

southeastastra · 28/02/2009 21:19

omg you lot really should chill out about this.

i rememeber not being this worried

Blossomhill · 28/02/2009 22:55

Everyones different

2plus2 · 28/02/2009 23:10

Depends on how high you rate education in your childs life, and how varied the schools are in your area.

CrackerNut · 28/02/2009 23:14

Why should we not be worried ??? Would you really not be bothered if your child ended up in a shit school ??

OP posts:
southeastastra · 28/02/2009 23:17

i have a 15 year old in a probably 'shit school'.

i rate the fact that my child will get on in his school as he's naturally a nice child.

i suppose if you have reservations at your child's ability and you could pay, you'd opt for private

KatyMac · 28/02/2009 23:23

DD is very worried - I have lied & told her we don't find out until Easter so I have time to come up with a plan if she doesn't get into the school she wants

IMO both schools are equally good - but DD is terrified that the girl that bullied her is going to one school & therefore DD refuses to go to that school - in actuality the child will probably go to the school DD wants to go to

2plus2 · 28/02/2009 23:31

DS2 just wants to go to the same school as DS1. It is hard to have no control over this important part of their lives. Have tried moving into catchment area but nothing is selling at the moment, could have lied and rented but not happy about the example that this would be showing to our children. So will sit and worry until 8am on Monday.

Northernlurker · 28/02/2009 23:34

We do but are fortunate to be quite relaxed. Our catchment school is fine and lots of her friends will be going there. Our first choice is actually another school which some of her friends will be going to. Academically it has a slight edge perhaps on the catchment school but what swung it for us was the distance - it is actually closer than the catchment school. However if she doesn't get it she will definately get the catchment school so I'm mildly interested in the result rather than desperate. JUst so glad we moved house last year - our old catchment school was dreadful!

serenity · 28/02/2009 23:45

We find out Monday iirc. I'm quite relaxed, we applied for two local schools, and I'm fairly certain he'll get in one of them The first choice one we're well within catchment, the second (which is only second because it's further away) is new and undersubscribed.

SparklyGothKat · 01/03/2009 08:34

we find out tomorrow via email. I am really nervous as we applied under rule 2 'medical and social needs' and we have been told that we were successful and will be priority when they allocate but there is still a small chance he will not get in. Its not a catchment school for our area but is fully adapted for disabled children... I am soooo nervous

CrackerNut · 01/03/2009 09:43

I have no doubts in Dd1's ability to suceed which ever school she went to, however I know that she will be really upset if she doesn't get into her first choice and that does stress me out slightly.

Crackernut my DD was upset when she didn't get our first choice BUT she has settled well into her new school to the point if she got the chance to move I doubt she'd go for it. I've got my fingers crossed for you all as I remember what it was like this time last year.

clam · 01/03/2009 16:27

The trouble is I think it's going to be worse this year. Not only is it a high birthrate year (round these parts, anyway), but I also heard a statistic on Friday (from a local Head Teacher) that applications for the selective schools nearby are up by 25% this year, as people are forced to defect from the private system!

lucy678 · 01/03/2009 16:28

god get you and your emails
we get ours BY POST fgs on the TUE

lowenergylightbulb · 01/03/2009 20:40

We get ours by email tonight. Either DD will have passed her 11+ and got her first choice, or she'll get her second choice which is actually the school I prefer!!

So it's win/win - but I'm still on tenterhooks!
