Congrats to all who finished today.

Son still has extended maths tomorrow afternoon but I’ve got home from work to find he’s round at his girlfriend’s house. He’s coming home soon apparently. When husband pointed out he has an exam tomorrow he said ‘in the afternoon’ …

Stowickthevast · 15/06/2026 20:35

I've had a message from DD saying Physics was amazing but nothing else. She's with her friends and not expected home till midnight so don't think I'll see her until tomorrow evening! She hasn't had to wear uniform since they went on study leave but is keeping hers as on the last day in y13 apparently they all come in eating uniform one last time.

Good luck to the final Spanish students!

Tebheag · 15/06/2026 21:05

DD gone for a walk said she is unable to take anything else in. So hoping tomorrow goes well.
Good luck to anyone else with exams tomorrow.

NotDarkGothicMama · 15/06/2026 21:14

DS said physics was "fine" and settled in to wolf down a ridiculously large pizza. He's happy and very ready to go off on hols.

Good luck to the Spanish and remaining FM students tomorrow!

Caddycat · 15/06/2026 21:23

@Roseyposeypie i feel the same, dd and most of her friends are staying so it doesnt feel that much of an end of an era. I feel it may be as they are not taking the same A levels so they may not see as much of each other but i dont think it's dawned on them yet.
Dd is currently revising spanish but also worrying about getting ready for tomorrow. Photos are being taken at assembly and theyve arranged a picnic afterwards. So glad she's now thinking of something else than studying!

All the paper is marked, dw, but just for some subjects, for some boards, the same marker will mark qu1; a different marker will mark qu2, and so on.

ETA: the idea being, you get your eye in on Macbeth and mark all of those. Or just those.

Edited

Thank you so much, I admit I was a bit teary today so never read properly, but just panicked. That is really helpful and makes sense

Aww that sounds lovely. DD had her leaver's day and assembly back at the start of May, so it seems so long ago.

I've been overemotional. She is staying at her school too (provided she gets the grades, which she got in her mocks and we have no back up, as she 'should' get in, but it does feel sad, as she has a really close friendship group and none of their options overlap.

Anonymousemouses · 15/06/2026 21:50

Two more days of exams this week. DD has her braces off tomorrow too, which is more of a worry as she has a condition where her enamel didn't form properly and has a 'honeycomb' texture, so the polishing and ungluing is daunting.

The end is in sight though. Well done to all of them for making it through, their resilience is amazing!

FoxandDuck · Yesterday 00:11

Gosh, it’s been lovely having my bubbly daughter back tonight. I hadn’t appreciated quite what a toll the exams had taken on her.
She is relieved it is all over; I was feeling quite emotional! She’s likely to stay where she is for Sixth Form but a couple of her gang are unlikely to get the grades and one of her best friends from primary is about to move across the country and, whilst they haven’t been at secondary school together, they have remained good friends spending a lot of time together outside of school so it is the end of an era. To rub it in, just before I went to collect DD, I passed a lady with a baby girl of about 9 months with ringlets of fat on her thighs & arms, just as DD had; then there was a girl of about 4 walking to her ballet lesson in the same uniform DD used to wear and then, later on, we saw some brownies. It was as if I was having this previous versions of DD thrust at me!

Good luck for Spanish reading today! Nice it’s only a 60min paper. We’re edexcel so also have Spanish writing tomorrow. Nearly there!

3GoldenLamps · Yesterday 06:26

Good luck to the Spanish students!

Garble · Yesterday 06:39

Good luck to Spanish takers!

DS said yesterday that he didn’t feel any different with exams being finished. I’d like to think it’s because it hasn’t sunk in yet but it might actually be that he is so laidback that he genuinely wasn’t bothered by them (and doesn’t his attitude to revision reflect that!).

I, on the other hand, feel so much lighter and am delighted the ordeal is over.

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · Yesterday 06:50

Yes I feel you can concentrate on me now, exercise, social life will improve now

Mumoftwoteenagers · Yesterday 07:12

I think dd found FM hard. She was slightly subdued tonight when she got home. Although that may be because half her entire year had met up “to be together for the last time ever” and so there were goodbyes.

Their school doesn’t have a sixth form and there isn’t an obvious one to go to location wise so they are all being split up. It is rather sad.

Funkylights · Yesterday 07:40

Final one in an hour or so. Think DD would happily stay in bed and not bother! Most of her mates do Spanish so at least they’ll finish together now. They all have a couple of sixth form options and most are still deciding !

Ifonlyoneday · Yesterday 08:05

Good luck for the Spanish and further maths exam folks.

DTs finished yesterday with what they described as a “dream” physics combined OCR paper. I think half the dream was they knew this was the last one and half was it was apparently not too hard. They had leavers assembly and shirt signing then headed off with friends for a picnic. Prom this Friday and Sixth form trial day next week. They’ve been told they are being set “bridging” work (they are taking A levels) for the some holidays and my 2 were ok with this as they think nothing can be as bad as this intense mocks and exam period of year 11.
bar the bridging work, we will hopefully have a relaxing and restful summer.

anyone else’s DC being set bridging work? Or is this just cause we are middling comprehensive + sixth form with low grades to get in?

thnaks to everyone on the year 11 threads, it’s been a great help to me managing the one and only time I’ll be navigating year 11. Already very invested in your DCs results so looking forward to the result day updates. Hoping we can have threads for year 12 and 13.

Woozybazoochy · Yesterday 08:13

Relieved to hear others found FM hard. My ds was a bit brighter last night but is worried as he wants to do it at A level. He can only do it if he gets an overall average grade of 7.5 and he also needs 8 in Maths. He has to do it as a 4th A level....alongside physics, chemistry and maths.

Pandaonahill · Yesterday 08:27

Dd is about to for an induction day at college!

She spent about 6 hours tidying her room yesterday, then headed out to awards night at her club - came back completely exhausted. College day today, family party tomorrow, then she’s going to sleep until Sunday!

She’s happier than I’ve seen her in months.

LattePatty · Yesterday 09:00

Good luck for Spanish!

Is son the only one here doing extended maths this afternoon? Maybe his school is the only one in the country that does it LOL

getwiththeprogram · Yesterday 09:01

Good luck to the Spanish sitters, nearly there!

My son finished yesterday with physics and has been very chatty since. He announced he was planning to sort and fold all his clothes drawers yesterday which is something he has never, ever, done 😄

My DC did an extra maths exam called FSMQ, which is different from further maths gcse, but that was yesterday. Not sure what all these different maths options are …

makemineadecaf · Yesterday 10:19

Spanish reading was very good! ONE MORE left!!

Caddycat · Yesterday 10:26

In 10 min DD will be out of Spanish and it will finally be over!

She was very stressed this morning, they weren't allowed their signing shirt on for the exam so she had to pack stuff to get changed into, do hair and make up for photographs and humour her mother and pose for last day of school photos in the garden like I do every year. DD2 joined her for "last time in uniform together" photos and that got me a little emotional, they sometimes get frustrated with each other (Usually over borrowed clothes!) but they are so so sweet together.

clary · Yesterday 10:33

Hope everyone's Spanish was OK. That's AQA done and just writing tomorrow for Edexcel.

@Ifonlyoneday bridging work is a really good idea. Especially in subjects like maths and MFL where skills can disappear if not practised. DD changed an A level subject about a week in to year 12 to French – which she had not done since early May (it was the first exam) and she noticed a bit of an issue tbh. So best to keep practising in some way.

Beachforever · Yesterday 10:38

@Ifonlyoneday

DD’s school has set bridging work over the summer holidays and they then have tests the first week back in September to test them on it.

Her school is as far from a middling school with low entry requirements as you can get. Sixth form entry requires a GCSE grade average of 8. You need at least an 8 in maths and science to do those at A Level and a 9 in maths to do FM.
