Ok. This part is painful! I wish I had booked some dinners out for these last days

I’m going out for dinner tomorrow night. Friday lunchtime was out because it’s bloody Valentine’s Day.

Should we expect to hear Friday afternoon?! I was hoping it would be morning…

(And does anyone know if the admission teams are usually around for questions in half term or does everything shut down for a week?)

I wouldn't be able to get much work done this Friday! This week has been very long.

Two years ago for us it was all in morning. I remember Latymer and I think Ibstock were in afternoon.

It really varies school to school and year to year. Last year we'd heard from all bar one of ours by 10am, the last one by early afternoon. But I do remember seeing posters on here still waiting very late in the day.

Ditto re Admissions offices over half term - some stay open, some close. But very little happens over half term - even where WL places come free, most people tend to wait until after the break to reject offers, so half term is pretty quiet.

Really hoping to hear Friday morning and not late on Friday afternoon. Hopefully the emails will arrive quickly as we haven’t had post in the last 2 weeks so can’t rely on that unfortunately. This week has been the slowest week possible.

@HowFarIsTooFar which schools are you waiting for? It was a mix between 10AM and 4PM so it just depends. By early afternoon is a good estimate for most.

Hi, just joining the conversation! It's been tough to focus on work lately, but we had a nice surprise yesterday from Putney 🤗. We're expecting two answers tomorrow and one on Friday. Fingers crossed for you all as well!!

If it's any consolation, last year girls' schools started releasing at 7am and we were largely done by 10am. I'd say mostly between 9 and 10! Some mixed (Latymer) and boys' schools (UCS) were towards midday. Latymer is also super annoying as they roll out emails slowly over a couple of hours so once you hear about someone having an offer, you can end up massively straining your fingers refreshing...

Do LU still send letters as well? I remember a very thin letter from them a few years ago ( when post used to arrive in the morning..). Thought was a no thank you but was a letter addressed to the DC congratulating them. They were at school so I'm afraid I opened it...The email to us
arrived a couple of hours later.

Not sure about LU letters. Some of the girls' schools send a postcard either written by the admissions office or by an existing pupil which is a nice touch. But as you say post for us these days is after the emails.

You may all laugh at this but my DS has requested a “results reveal” cupcake… I suspect he just wants to eat cake.

We got a NO from Forest School 11+, My DS was called upon Forest Academic Scholarship last month but still no offer, probably because we are a significant bursary applicant, Gutted!!! 😞

Oh no. So sorry to hear that and particularly upsetting given the academic scholarship call back. Just shows what a dark art admissions is.

Oh, and the bursary thing is a mess. I was chatting to a parent at DC3’s primary school and they are in the same boat with a GDST school. Their daughter was called up for academic and music scholarships (incredibly gifted) but rejected, and like you a bursary applicant.

I am sorry to hear that and so frustrating!! Did you ask for feedback? It seems strange they would invite for academic scholarship interview, but give a no in the end. But perhaps you are right. Maybe bc a bursary applicant?

Really sorry to hear that I would have thought that with an invitation for an AS you would have got an offer did you get through the interview process ?
