What "lazy" national stereotypes?

That the Germans have never done anything wrong? course not, wonderful people.

I do think it was a fact for a very long time that the United States paid more to defend Germany than Germans did.

Oh well, you can't say Trump was wrong about Nato. Start paying to defend your own nations, people, and stop free riding on American hegemony. This "lazy" stereotype applies to every country in Europe, bay maybe Switzerland.

Anyone who posts anything positive about Trump must be joking us all. He’s the main reason why I’d never live in the US and would try and avoid visiting if the Americans are daft enough to elect him again.

alldayeveryday247 · 13/07/2024 10:32

Are you a Trump supporter OP?

What's wrong with Trump? The world was a lot safer when he was president.

You should be quite scared if Biden gets in, believe me.

Talking about lazy: People slagging off Trump is the most intellectual lazy thing going today. During his presidency the world was safe, the economy was booming and things were going great for the US.

It is lazy, closed minds who don't give Trump credit for what he did, and who do not take his ideas seriously.

@Parker231 You will find many intelligent and pleasant Americans are aghast at the choice they face. We have rarely encountered Trump supporters because you can visit wonderful areas of the USA where sensible people live! If you avoid talking politics it’s still a fantastic place to go. Don’t be out off. We were asked our opinion on Trump in 2016. We said it wasn’t our call (trying to sit on the fence!) - this then promoted the Americans we were with to all declare they thought he was dreadful, Don’t forget, half won’t want him!

This article sums it up perfectly - Donald Trump is an egomaniacal narcissist, conspiracy theorist, ethically challenged businessman, misogynist, phenomenal blowhard and former Democrat – found guilty by a court of sexual abuse, twice impeached as President of the United States, and unwilling, unable or both to accept that he lost the 2020 American presidential election, of which the disgusting attack on the Capitol in 2021 was the most visible manifestation. Now he seeks a second term. How could America possibly be safe once back in his hands? Not to mention the rest of us?

I spend a lot of time in the US with work and we live in Montreal so not far to the border and my DSil lives in Aspen.

Thankfully most people we come across there aren’t like the OP. I try and avoid states like Texas -too many there have extreme right wing views and women have such poor rights.
America has a huge problem - the best they can come up with his Biden - long serving successful politican but now too old or Trump, a loose cannon criminal!

And half won't want Biden, who has been a dreadful president and made the world a very scary place.

Half, and perhaps more than half if things continue, will vote for Donald Trump. The idea of 10 million people illegally entering our country is, shall we say, unacceptable for many. It makes these small boats small time.

And the withdrawal from Afghanistan? Do people not remember these things?

This word salad of indignation is almost entirely bereft of any policies President Trump put into place.

I know it's easy for people to feel morally superior, but perhaps people should consider what a President actually did, both at home and in the world.

In any case, I've always wondered what it's like not being able to vote in the most important election in your lives. Sunak v. Starmer? It doesn't make a dime's bit of difference.

But a Trump versus a Biden? The UK, and Europe, will be changed for decades.

A U.S. review led by the National Security Council of the 2021 withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan largely lays the blame on former President Donald Trump, saying President Joe Biden was "severely constrained" by the decisions of his predecessor.

Why do left wing people drip with sanctimony?

Oh my you're absolutely drunk. Trump is a bad businessman and a terrible president, and he's wrong about NATO and Russia. As for concrete things he did, he appointed three hard-right Supreme Court justices who took away women's right to choose and have curtailed the ability of government agencies to implement laws and regulations.

Afghanistan went poorly, but I believe it was inevitable and would have happened under any president. The seeds of our failure in Afghanistan were set under Bush.

Half of Americans didn't vote for Trump in 2016 and won't this year. He lost the popular vote in 2016, and won because of the distortionary effects of the Electoral College. If 75,000 voters in three states had voted differently, there would never have been a Trump administration.

Now this one takes the biscuit.

Without a shadow of a doubt, he was right on NATO. How could anyone suggest otherwise? He said: you are not paying what you agreed to pay, we are paying for you, you have let your armed forces rot.

And everything he said is coming to pass and NATO countries are absolutely ramping up their spending and falling over themselves to get to their 2% commitment.

Russia? When there was 1 weak president in the Oval (Obama), Putin felt he could invade Crimea, and so he did.

When there was a strong president in the Oval (Trump), nothing happened, the world was at relative peace.

When another weak (very weak, flaccid) president entered the Oval (Biden), Putin felt emboldened to start an unprovoked war.

If you really believe that Trump was wrong on NATO and on Russia, I'd love to see the facts you point to. Goodness.

OP posts:
statesmom · 13/07/2024 11:20

And why do you start with "you're drunk"?

People who don't have strong arguments, or who don't know how to argue, attack their interlocutor. They never attack the arguments.

You just put a whole bunch of nonsense up there with 0 facts.

Well, OK if you like killing innocent life then you're against his SCOTUS picks, I get that.

But the electoral college is at the very heart of the constitutional structure, and only whiners like Hillary Clinton attack it because she lost.

It's like playing a tennis match. "Hey!!!! How could I lose the match???? I won the most points????"

"That's very nice, but it is not how the contest is scored."

A man who said the below? It's scary that apologists like you have sons to be honest.

Trump was recorded bragging that a celebrity like himself "can do anything" to women, including "just start kissing them ... I don't even wait" and "grab 'em by the pussy"

Hopefully you're a troll tbh.

Why would you "hope that I'm a troll"?

Can you not believe that other people, decent people (I may not be) have views different to yours?

More white women voted for Donald Trump than for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

In 2020, Trump beat Biden by an even stronger margin with white women.

Again, you bring up some locker room talk and you are "OH, SO AGHAST!!" that basicaly half of the country likes someone you don't.

One thing I did teach my son is to be able to understand other people's views. And yet here people treat support for a former president and the putative front runner as outside the Overton Window.

Get a grip, lady. Open up your mind to other opinions.

I hope you're a troll because parents who support a man with multiple, decades long accusations of sexual misconduct and assault (whose 'locker room talk' supports those allegations by confirming he believes he has the right to access women's bodies without permission) having a son is incredibly depressing.

You know, because I think sexual assault is wrong and voting for men who assault women, and / or joke about doing so, to be in arguably the most powerful role in the planet isn't going to do anything to combat the global issue of violence against women and girls.

Lots of women voted for him, yes, everybody knows that. Plenty of people vote against the interests of their peers, that's nothing new.

alldayeveryday247 · 13/07/2024 12:00

Anyway since the Park Lane post, which made me cringe as nobody who actually has money speaks like that, I'm pretty confident you are a troll.

I also don't think someone real would give such identifying accounts on here unless they were pretty hard of thinking.

Good luck with everything!

People are entitled to their opinions, yes. In my opinion - if this thread is genuine and you are not a troll, you are either insane or very stupid.

I am a US citizen and am appalled by Trump. I have never felt more embarrassed and sorry for the country of my birth than I have in recent years - I am so happy to be raising my children here and not in the states. My family who still live in the US plan to leave and move to Europe if Trump is voted in again. These are our opinions.

Trump is a criminal and a misogynist - not opinion, but fact.

Oh, and I won't explain the difference between fact and opinion to you (you can look that up google.com) but to say that DJT is a "misogynist" is your opinion, one I do not share. He has consistently, and especially in his political career, given great power and trust to women.

Your comment that he is a "criminal" is currently factual, though with the recent SCOTUS ruling on the use of evidence from his time as president this has a good chance of being vacated completely.

Ruling is in September I believe, so you can have criminal until then if you wish.

You think it is "incredibly depressing" that tens of millions of women (including me) who have sons support Donald Trump?

You may want to see a professional, who can help you to understand that there are billions of people on Earth who don't agree with your political and policy preferences. Many of us are not dumb; many of us are not evil. We just disagree, OK?

Look at this thread! There are tons of women here spewing factless, hysterical hyperbole, virtue signalling to an anonymous group that their closed minds do not stomach conflicting views.

It does not make me depressed; it makes me happy. You should speak to someone about this.
