WLs at PHS, FHSS and WHS. Any ideas how many places are over offered and how many are on waitlists? Do many decline these three schools? I think I read that WHS were waitlisting everyone they don’t offer to, so they don’t outright say no? Don’t fancy our chances if that’s the case. Anyone have any intel whether WHS are adding that extra class this year, they said on their website they would if they had enough applicants meeting their requirements.

Any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Congrats to all with good news.

WHS used to put everyone on WL but not sure if they still do. They have traditionally been open to sharing of your DD is top 1/3, middle 1/3 or bottom 1/3. They have said about a bumper year ... and I think they have the space as they have not had one for a while.
PHS used not to share position in WL but this year is doing so.
As others have said they usually have movement but mostly once grammars are out.
If you have any questions on WHS, feel free to ask.. here or on PM. We went through the process last year and chose WHS ... and DD very happy there.

witscreek · 09/02/2024 21:55

I'm also happy to give advice on WHS and LU- experience of both.

IndieAnna · 09/02/2024 22:38

What’s the deadline for acceptance for WHS and PHS please? I know FHSS is 5th March.

W4mamabear · 09/02/2024 22:43

Putney is 5th March as well

We are planning to release FHSS offer -
hopefully helpful to some here on WL!

Shivvyshiv · 09/02/2024 22:52

@witscreek 👋yes please on LU! Would appreciate any insight. Our other choices are MTS and ST Benedict’s

travelturtle · 09/02/2024 22:57

@IndieAnna sorry - we’ve been through this with two boys so don’t know as much about the girls’ schools, but others on here will I’m sure. Things do seem to move a lot when grammar results come out though.

minipie · 09/02/2024 22:59

WHS is 5th March too. Lots of schools seem to be 5th March at noon.

There are lots of offer holder events in w/c 19 Feb so imagine some offers will be released after that week.

SeaEssence · 10/02/2024 08:00

Congratulations to all who secured their desired choices.

DC only got 2 WLs - RGS Reigate and Caterham. Any experience/insight on the movement at these schools, or if there are any ways of helping DC move along? The wait is killing me!

I don't know anything about the other schools so can't really make any comparisons but very happy with LU. Lots of things going on before and after school so an easy journey is quite important I'd say!

Farpavilions · 10/02/2024 09:39

Please can anyone tell me about movement on the Godolphin & Latymer waiting list from past experience? Anxious times! Well done to everyone for getting through this!

Mozartinmyfanjo · 10/02/2024 16:42

We have RGS Reigate, which was our favourite, and to mess things up academic scholarship from Caterham (which was close 2nd), really torn what to do now. 😓

DS already had 2 other offers on the table as well, do we decline them now asap to free up waiting list spaces? Or wait till after half term.

Last year it seemed only girls on the waitlist with siblings at the school got places. Previously most girls on the wl at our prep ended up with places.

tennissquare · 10/02/2024 17:09

@Mozartinmyfanjo , Admissions dept have just had their busiest week of the year, most are closed for half term and won't be looking at WL for a while.

ALongProcess · 10/02/2024 17:22

Belated update here: good news for DS from Emanuel, Dulwich and Whitgift. So proud of him and very glad it's the half term break - I think we all need a holiday! Will be watching with interest as everyone starts to mull over decisions....

Laulau26 · 10/02/2024 17:40

Congrats to all with good news! Does anyone have a rough idea about WL movements in schools like St. John’s and Epsom?
hope everyone can relax a little bit over half term!

ncsurrey22 · 10/02/2024 19:21

@Laulau26 it changes from year to year as sometimes a school will overoffer too much one year and then they'll be conservative the next and it often bounces back and forth till they get it right. I know at least 3 ppl who are turning their Epsom places down but I am sure they over offer 2-3x so they don't always go to WL. I am sure they'll have a better idea after the offer holders events are finished, best to call schools end of Feb and again early March. to find out. I'll be surprised if they don't go to WL this year.

tennissquare · 10/02/2024 19:34

Agree with @ncsurrey22 , it changes from year to year. Last year Epsom had had an upsetting event but they had their highest ever acceptance rate. It's a very desirable school and with a new head starting in Sept they will again expect a high level of acceptance.

Best to let both schools know how keen you are and will pay the deposit immediately if offered a space and stay tight until 5th March.

Summerma · 10/02/2024 19:34

We have released St John’s, and will be releasing KGS Monday and likely releasing Emanuel in a week max as DS has decided on Hampton (silently a bit gutted as Emanuel is my favourite but it’s got to be where DS really wants). Trying to be very quick with decisions to help those with waitlists (appreciate there are over offers but doing all we can). Thanks for all the support all

We've just released both of those so I think WL will move going forward.

farfallarocks · 10/02/2024 20:36

Thanks very thoughtful @Summerma
We are down to final 2 and will release the rest too.

Emanuel is an interesting one this year, at our school they’ve only offered the super academic and none we know are accepting. So suspect the waiting list will move but many those kids have also got Alleyns and other schools that are traditionally harder than Emanuel so won’t accept that either. No idea if this is similar at other schools but I wonder if they’ve overcooked it. Or maybe I’m just bitter 🤪

Clairesm · 10/02/2024 20:45

KGS for us too.. Absolutely loved it so will be accepting that & releasing Emanuel, SHS.

Mothernearest · 10/02/2024 21:02

Thank you for those releasing Emanuel places. We’ll be waiting with bated breath. Any ideas on numbers they’d have over offered by?

peekaboo1 · 10/02/2024 21:14

When should we get in touch to release offers? Should I be doing this during this coming week or the week we go back - are the admissions offices also on half term?

If it's any help we got a Caterham offer yesterday and have declined already as was our #2 and DD got a scholarship at her #1.

Hopefully you can have her spot. Grin
