Late applications and grammar school waiting lists

Hi there
Can someone please possibly give me some support and advice, my daughter did the 11+ exam for Birmingham grammar schools and she passed with the score of 213. But unfortunately we missed the deadline for school admissions which we are really stressed about because we really want her to get into a grammar school.
but I heard that the council look at late applicants after the 1st of March and we get the results of whether we got in or not on the 18th. We applied for 4 grammar schools(because we thought as shes passed she may still have a chance) and 2 state schools. We don’t actually mind which school they send her as long as it’s from one of 6 choices we made because we really don’t like the other schools in our area due to how they perform academically.
so on the 18th when we get the news of which school they’ve chosen, can we still call up the grammar schools and ask to put my daughter on the waiting list? But does that not put her lower down the waiting list because parents who got the letter on the 1st of March probably put their child in the waiting list?
is the order of the waiting list based on who calls in first to be put on or based on scores?

also do you know roughly where she’ll be on the waiting list with her score. The pass score was 200. And she’s on free school meals too and they did say the give more consideration to pupil premium students( students on free school meals)

lastly do you know any other people who still get into one of their 6 choices as a late applicant?

please could someone give me some info I’m really worried for my daughter

thank you

Lol so my comment on girls/boys was that from the current information I have on children in my area passing, more girls have than boys. This is my information from 3 schools obviously I’m aware its not secure information but at the moment I’m literally hanging on to ever little bit of information I’m getting and with less girls passing this May give my daughter a greater chance.
Iv been told by a number of teachers and experienced tutors that GL exam boards this year was a lot harder again I’m no expert and it’s just from the information I have had and thought share it on here and get other opinions.
Yes I do understand the standardise score system.
As this is my first and only child I’m not as knowledgeable about the whole grammar schools etc. I’m just reading through your details response which I’m very grateful to but I’m not clear on the part you mention about for he first time there was a single test??

Hi , my daughter has passed the 11 plus exam last September Buckinghamshire county and we moved to the catchment area on time. Then we applied 3 grammar schools. But we submitted the address proofs after 21st November then LA said she wil get a school in Second allocation round of 16th May. Unfortunately she didn’t get any of those grammar schools and LA offered a state school near the house. However we still have hopes as there will be another allocation rounds in next months. Only the good news is she is 2 nd position in her first choice of grammar school waiting list. And 5 th position in third choice of grammar school waiting list .
Does anyone think if she will get in the Grammar School in late allocation round please?
Thank you

@Lumbini - start a new thread with your question, as this one is some months old and people may not see your question and might respond to the original question instead.

Make sure you mention relevant info in the title (eg Bucks grammars, address proof submitted late) to help people knowledgeable about your area spot your post.

Seriously, the answer to that is that nobody has a crystal ball. You can get an idea of how the later allocations panned out last year from the info on the Bucks CC website. But remember that successful appeals will put a school over PAN and stall its waiting list (although if the successful appellant Grammar A already had a place at Grammar B and no successful appeals at B, tha moves B's list along...).

@MarchingFrogs hard to say! It’s possible that some parents who also gave an offer from a private school will decide to take that instead, which would free up places.

If you are not happy with the comprehensive school you have been allocated you can also now go in the waiting lists for any other schools in the area that you like. Many comprehensives do very well for bright kids.
