Pupil calling teacher love

Year 11 girl refers to female teacher as love. Not a one off, drops it frequently in conversation with her. ie. Hi love, how are you? Are you having a good day?

It just doesn't sit right with me but does it need reporting to DSL? Or do I need to get over myself?

When I said term of endearment it was more in the terms of you guys, mate but not even that. Its hard to say. It has almost become as much a part of their sentence when addressing someone in the way that "like" has infiltrated many sentences too.

A teacher doesn't deserve respect just for being a teacher 🤷🏻. The kids have no respect for her, so I'm not sure why I should respect her.

Not sure you're the best person to be judging professional boundaries.

When you tell the DSL about this incident, you should also tell them about the content you've posted on this thread- I doubt they will deem it appropriate.

It's very odd. A professional deserves respect from their colleagues unless there is a lot more going on than 'the kids don't respect her'. It's very unprofessional on the op's part. But I think she should take this to the top to get her own attitude into the spotlight and perhaps be told to get her head in order.

Op, if you don't respect this woman and you're not a TA, FFS stay out of her classroom. Her students will see an older woman looking at her like a duck in thunder and it won't be helping any classroom management issues she may (or may not) have.

Is her head of department concerned about her performance? Are you HOD?

I tend to look at things as if it was my children involved. What would I want for them and how would I want them to treat and be treated by teachers.

Look at things as a professional. Act as a professional. These aren't your kids. She is clearly better at leveling with them. Your don't want that for your kids. Personal preference.

Am I the only one who doesn't see an issue?

It should be the teacher who addresses it. Also be aware you don't know the students circumstances - perhaps there are learning needs or memory issues
