I’m so sorry @11minus it is such a brutal process.
I don’t know what your other plans are but we know lots of people who have very happy kids at the international schools or one of the newer secondaries, if you are still looking. I’m pretty sure the international schools are rolling admissions and there are a range of options (large, suburban campuses to tiny, urban schools). We live close to Kensington Park School and apparently it was founded by a former St Paul’s head and is already performing well. As a not yet known school, I think it’s also got flexible admissions. (We went to the open house and then kept bumping into the teachers as we walked around the neighborhood which horrified my daughter so we crossed it off our list!). Someone else I know has a very happy daughter at the new Maida Vale School. There are lots of reasons why kids go to these schools - some just have parents who flat out refuse to go through the 11+, others don’t want their kids to do GCSEs, etc.
Please remember that this process says nothing about your DD. Since I worry that I’ve put mine through all this and we won’t have an offer I’ll share what my good friend (with older kids) said when I articulated that to her, in case you’re going down that rabbit hole…always be so proud of yourself and your DD for trying. It will work out for her (and you) and the evidence for that is that you all tried. You will always be looking out for the best opportunities for her, and we will all win some and lose some - and depending on our attitudes, we will all do well whatever we get. All the best to you and your family. Xx
