City of London boys exam

Hi, Does anyone know the format of the CLSB exam? Roughly when you drop off/pick up etc? Two weeks to go and there's still no info. I'm wondering if I can fit it around work/work remotely somewhere nearby etc. We're doing 10+ but I imagine it's similar to the 11+.

It's an interview here for DS too. Sorry it didn't work out this year @Singjingles . But like you say it makes great practice.

Could I please ask those parents whose boys did the 10+ to tell me what they know about the VR and NVR they sat? My DS has passed the 11+ first stage and been called back to do the NVR and VR and I’m guessing they will be similar but a bit harder. In particular did it say if GL or CEM? Exam is on Wednesday and there are no sample questions. Any help much appreciated.

Congrats to your son.
My DS says there were 85 questions of VR to complete in 35 minutes.
You either underline or write the answer.
There was no non verbal reasoning.

Hello all, just checking if anyones DC sat VR and NVR at CLSB lastweek and have you heard any news.
Was meant to be sent out on Friday but no news.

This is what CLS said before so I wouldn’t expect any news (apart from being told an interview slot) until Feb. Have you seen something else?

“Shortlisted candidates will be invited to CLS to sit further written papers in Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning on Wednesday 14 December; they will also be invited for an interview which will take place online (likely during week commencing 16 January).
Parents of shortlisted candidates will be notified about the final result of their child’s application by email on Friday 10 February and all replies are required by 9am on Friday 3 March.”

I've got the one you just sent. This was sent prior to that:
The next stage of selection will consist of further written papers in Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, to be sat at the School next Wednesday (14 December) and an interview in mid-January (which may be conducted virtually).

Details regarding timings for the reasoning papers will be sent to you by email later today; details regarding timings of and arrangements for the interviews will be sent to you by email by the end of next week (Friday 16 December).

I emailed the school today to enquire about when we would hear about the interview dates for 11+and they said that there has been a delay and they will be sending out the interview invites tomorrow (on Tuesday 19th).

Happy New Year! Ours is first thing next monday morning. I'll let you know how it goes. I know what you mean about feeling anxious about it.

Does anyone know what the chance of getting in is if they've got an interview? Is it just a case of checking whether they are suitable for the school and most kids get a place, or is it another way to whittle down the kids significantly?

Ours is this week...

From past threads I got the feeling that City don't interview too much in excess of the numbers they plan to offer to or put on the waiting list.

Thanks ladies. Ours is this Thursday.
I had a chat with a representative from City at a senior school night held at our school, and she too said that the short list for the interview is very short. I hope we all get in! :-)
