Uniform for girls with curves

hidethetoaster · 23/08/2022 22:26

DD age 13 has grown out of last year's school trousers, these were age 16 size from John Lewis.
Can't find anything in stock anywhere in a size up. Most places don't go beyond size 16. The few styles that do are all sold out where I've looked online.
Not sure what girls with curves are meant to do once you grow out of the age 16 stuff? She won't wear skirts. Grateful for any pointers

Buy them from the adults section. My 15 year old wears adult size 8 trousers for school.

dementedpixie · 23/08/2022 22:27

Ladies trousers?

Thanks, can you specify where to you buy from? Adult women section tends not to have comfy school style trousers- but you have found them! Where please?

Is she in age 16 or size 16?

redskyatnight · 23/08/2022 22:30

You just wear adult stuff. Same as you do for other clothes. Unless she has to wear a very specific style of school uniform trousers, in which case you raise it with the school that none exist.

She's age 13, last year she was wearing age 16 size (not dress size 16), and now needs a size up

Depends what you mean by "comfy style school style trousers". I've never noticed school trousers to be particularly comfy. You'll just need to try a few places till you find ones that suit her size/shape. My DD wears Next trousers, but she's petite as well as being curvy so may be completely different to your DD.

hidethetoaster · 23/08/2022 22:34

@redskyatnight mine is also petite and curvy, I'll take a look at Next. Thanks

Marks and spencer? John lewis? Next?

Bsmirched · 23/08/2022 22:47

Have a look at the Sturdy Kids website.

imnotthatkindofmum · 23/08/2022 23:07

@hidethetoaster I get my dd trousers in m and s. She wears size 12. They have several different styles, I just buy the standard straight keg ones. I had to take them up last year but now she's the same height as me so took them down. The main downside is they're more expensive than kids (but cheaper than the recommended ones in the uniform shop). They have lasted really well though.

spiderontheceiling · 23/08/2022 23:11

What colour does she need. If you go onto the Next website and search "tailoring" and filter by their own brand (Next!) and women, then you get their formal trousers for women. I think they do straight, bootcut and tapered leg in each of black, navy and grey. I'm 5'4" and the regular length are fine on me.

NRogers · 23/08/2022 23:15

Once you don't fit in kids clothes then you buy adults.....

MenaiMna · 23/08/2022 23:27

If black uniform: just look at "office trousers" or "workwear" for adults at Matalan, Next, Primark. DD has been in adult range since yr7- an 8 back then and a 12 now but as she's an hourglass I have sometimes put darts from the waist to get them to fit.

Nat6999 · 23/08/2022 23:32

TU do nice cheap black trousers.

lljkk · 23/08/2022 23:37

I sell stuff like this on ebay. Labeled office trousers.
The men's stuff in size 34" or 36" waist sells especially well.

SausageinaBun · 23/08/2022 23:39

John Lewis do sizes above the age ones in some of their school clothes.

Ramble0n · 23/08/2022 23:40

Primark.

Allmarbleslost · 24/08/2022 06:37

I buy them from marks. I'm not sure what you mean by comfy trousers though.

Yes I have a friend who always wears them to work.
I also has a friend who works in a charity shop she said the tops go like hot cakes the trousers not so much, may be worth a look?

Singleandproud · 24/08/2022 06:50

We've had this problem this year as 12 year old DD is 5ft 9 and adult size 10/12 and her school trousers have to be grey which seems much tricker to find than black. The school shop didn't sell them in that size for women so just brought her boys ones, they still have elastic in the waist band to adjust them.

I havn't tried them, but someone on here recommended these from Alexandra recently.

BigWoollyJumpers · 24/08/2022 12:51

Nightmare. Because if you go to adult size, they are too big all over. DD2 was tiny, but very curvy womanly shape, but with 26" waist. Schoolwear was a complete nightmare, we had to upsize everything, and then get it altered. She is now an adult sized 8, but even then waists are too big, and tops and bottoms too tight.
