DD has done OK with practise papers in maths andits one of the few she seems reasonably confident about.
She entrusted me with her phone overnight as apparently Harry Styles released a new album at midnight and she didn't trust herself not to stay up and listen to it. I had to wake her this morning (she normally uses her phone as an alarm) so I'm hoping she slept better than normal.

QueenMabby · 20/05/2022 10:58

I'm sat in my car at school waiting to pick up ds. I have butterflies!

LouisCatorze · 20/05/2022 11:14

DD seemed to think it was quite difficult, more so than previous papers they done as practice in class/mocks.

LouisCatorze · 20/05/2022 11:16

they'd done even

TonyBlairsLover · 20/05/2022 11:40

Just out the exam (we started late). Tbh it was ok, not so easy but it could’ve been harder.
2 more left so any of your DCs shouldn’t worry

MrsScrubbingbrush · 20/05/2022 11:59

DD2 was a bit tearful after the maths exam. She worked really hard for it but found it difficult, I said don't worry there are 2 more papers to pick up points. The only person she spoke to about it is very good at maths & said it was ok which didn't help.

DD1 has ignored my message so I don't know how it went for her.

Nard75 · 20/05/2022 11:59

DS2 said the maths paper was more difficult than any he has done previously but that it was ok. Hoping that means he has done well🤞🏽

LouisCatorze · 20/05/2022 12:10

DD is generally (she's only done four so far) finding these exams more difficult than she'd anticipated. Is it only her?

Rollergirl11 · 20/05/2022 12:20

DD also said Maths was hard and there were some questions she didn’t answer. Yes @LouisCatorze she says a lot of them have been harder than she expected. And DD is the queen of past papers so she has lots to compare to. Sounds like they’re certainly giving them a run for their money which seems pretty mean to me given how much disruption and uncertainty this cohort have faced!

LouisCatorze · 20/05/2022 12:26

That's exactly what I said to DD @Rollergirl11 . Just plain mean-minded and not the way to inspire confidence in a cohort, many of whom have missed out on significant chunks of learning across all subjects because of the pandemic and lockdowns.

TonyBlairsLover · 20/05/2022 12:42

@Rollergirl11 did she do AQA foundation?

CornishGem1975 · 20/05/2022 12:51

Just text my DD so will see what she says about maths, she was doing Higher AQA. If they've all found it hard the grade boundaries will reflect this.

CornishGem1975 · 20/05/2022 12:52

LouisCatorze · 20/05/2022 12:10

No, she's not alone. My DD has done loads of past papers and mocks were fine etc but she has been finding these exams hard.

Nard75 · 20/05/2022 13:04

DS2 did Edexcel higher paper. Sounds like they have all been difficult.

Lightsabre · 20/05/2022 13:08

Ds did the Edexcel higher paper and said it was much harder than the past paper he's done for the mocks. His friends said so too and this is a maths specialist school where the majority get the top grades.
Usual post mortem, thinks he dropped a few marks on the last few questions and a few others.

Hopefully the grade boundary will be lower!

Lightsabre · 20/05/2022 13:08

Last paper he did that was meant to say.

CornishGem1975 · 20/05/2022 13:09

DD just replied and said "It was alright, could have been worse". I asked her if she felt prepared and if she'd answered everything and she said yes.

Lunaverde · 20/05/2022 13:17

DD said that a number left the hall in tears after maths. Apparently not like any they had practiced before and really hard! It’s DDs favourite subject so she was a little tearful too…

Rollergirl11 · 20/05/2022 13:17

@TonyBlairsLover no I think she did Edexcel higher paper.

lookthisway · 20/05/2022 13:17

My DD also found her maths exam difficult, she said it was not the hardest test she's ever done but certainly not easy in any way. She works hard so it isn't because she didn't prepare.

Lunaverde · 20/05/2022 13:21

@Lightsabre almost word for for word what my DD told me! Same exam and she is at school where 80% of the girls do further maths ! Am really sad for her and a bit cross that after 2 years of interrupted education Edexcel seem to be much harder than other boards.

Rollergirl11 · 20/05/2022 13:22

@Lightsabre I will pass that on to DD, seems to be the consensus then that was much harder then usual and not just her that thought so.

MrsPnut · 20/05/2022 13:23

DD has just said that the maths paper was okay and she answered every question. They sat the Edexcel higher paper.

MirandaWest · 20/05/2022 13:53

DD did Edexcel higher paper - she said it wasn't the nicest paper she's ever seen. Hopefully the grade boundaries will be lower..

zighead · 20/05/2022 14:02

My DS said maths went okay but that some questions were really difficult. His board is Edexcel but not sure if iGCSE or GCSE
Nothing now for my DS until Thursday next week.
Have a good weekend all.
