Hope all went well Kingscote!

Seeline · 21/06/2021 10:38

Seems weird DCs taking tests at the moment. DD still isn't 17 until the end of July!

ealingwestmum · 21/06/2021 10:40

Holding with baited breath and fingers crossed Kingscote...

ealingwestmum · 21/06/2021 10:46

Thanks for new thread Monkey

Apologies for delay Shimy. I guess colleges have similar approach to % of over-offering as here, depending on what the legacy data shows for acceptance stats. But yes, multiple offers are potentially held until released back by May deadline. There can be a scrum between offers and acceptance day with colleges courting those students they don't want to lose with incentives to accept.

Don't think there is a firm/insurance, but, for international students they are allowed to accept one offer in May per country applied, and withdraw come A levels/results day. So in summary, you can hold and accept a US offer but decide to stay domestic come August when your results are in, accepting your UCAS place instead.

@Zandathepanda I think he's been going through the AOs but mainly I think he's been panicking about getting a really good intro as that's where he falls down with this teacher (the other one seems to like what he does) and a good context.

Goodluck to your DD @Kingscotestaff!! Fingers crossed firmly.

KingscoteStaff · 21/06/2021 12:37

My baby is now a legal driver!!!!!!!!!!!

Zandathepanda · 21/06/2021 12:41

Congrats and deep breaths when she takes you for the first drive!!

estherfrewen · 21/06/2021 12:44

Well done to your DD @KingscoteStaff!

KingscoteStaff · 21/06/2021 12:52

In my head she is still 9. Mind you, in my head I am still 17…

ProggyMat · 21/06/2021 13:04

Well done to @KingscoteStaff DD! [Star

Monkey2001 · 21/06/2021 13:09

Woo hoo, well done @KingscoteStaff DD! Always a great achievement to pass first time, but more of a relief than usual as you don't want to head back into the battle to book another test!

Well done to your daughter @KingscoteStaff!

FoolsAssassin · 21/06/2021 13:17

Well done to her, excellent news!!

ealingwestmum · 21/06/2021 13:24

Woo hoo, the first (I think) of them on the road legally let loose? Well done to her Kingscote!

PaddingtonPaddington · 21/06/2021 13:26

Excellent @KingscoteStaff

Still waiting for a driving licence here - 6 weeks since applying, 5 weeks since we sent off the photo form. really need it to book theory test date in the summer holidays.

DD on study leave this week. Exams Wednesday and Thursday and next Wednesday and Thursday (though she’s back in lessons from Monday).

It looks like online auditions for DD for conservatoires this year. One needs to be submitted by 18 October and not sure about the other one yet.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 21/06/2021 13:27

Congratulations to your DD @kingscoteStaff!! Fantastic and terrifying news at the same time! Grin

ChristopherTracy · 21/06/2021 13:37

Seeline · 21/06/2021 13:53

Orangecinnamon21 · 21/06/2021 14:02

Ahh interesting to know @PaddingtonPaddington. Hope the Uni courses where performance isn't quite as important would follow !

What did your Dd think of RWCMD ?

Alsoplayspiccolo · 21/06/2021 14:11

Congratulations to her, Kingscote!

crazycrofter · 21/06/2021 14:11

@PaddingtonPaddington still waiting here too - we applied 1st May and sent off the photo maybe a week later. Dd doesn't seem in a hurry though, I think she's worried she'll be rubbish and find it stressful! She gets around the city by train too, so doesn't really need to drive at the moment.

AnneOfCleavage · 21/06/2021 15:10

Congratulations to your DD Kingscote whoop whoop. I hope it doesn't take as long for her real licence to come through like it's doing with the provisionals at the moment.

My DD will be very jealous that yours gets to have study leave during mocks Paddington. She studies so much better at home where she's not distracted by friends.

One of DD's head girl duties is doing line ups with the younger years (she has year 7) and so she wasn't looking forward to doing it in the pouring rain today - has to do uniform checks and pencil case checks thrice daily Shock She's also doing a video tour of the school today for the new soon to be year 7s so wasn't amused that it was pouring and her careful hair style would get rained on and go fluffy. I took pity and dropped her off as near as I dared this morning.

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2021 15:27

Ooohhh , good news kingscote!

We still haven't sorted out lessons. Not feeling any rush really. DS1 epically failed ever to pass theory!

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2021 15:29

DS2 now got history result back. Apologies , another boast coming! Look away.

He got an A*. I am v pleased for him as I think he was very overlooked at school really . I do wonder how generously marked they exams were, though.

He is now back to considering Oxbridge. He is finding it very hard to know what to do really.
