Indie girls school, no oxbridge 2019

We are looking at senior options for our dd. She is bright, not top of her class in everything, but all round scholarship level according to her head.
There is a very local girls school which went through a good patch a few years ago. I've just had a look at their 2019 leavers destinations- 46 to universities and not 1 to Oxford of Cambs.
I KNOW it's not the be all and end all, but it is used as an indicator of academic success.
The other schools we are looking at ger 15% Oxbridge, but are further away from us - think 45 mins on mini bus.
What are your thoughts on paying (admittedly less than the 15% place) for a school with 0 Oxbrige for a bright child......is it lacking ambition/opportunities for her?

@MrPickles73

I have found an anomaly.. I see Malvern College got about 25% A/A at A levels in 2019 but Tatler reports 10% into Oxbridge. Meanwhile Bromsgrove School gets about double the % of A/A but apparently only 1% into Oxbridge. Can anyone explain that to me?
Or explain this:

Just moved to East London. Save yourself a bucket load of money. That's where I'll be in a few years.

I don't know who wrote that Tatler's article but both sent a similar amount(2/3) to Oxbridge in 2019. The quoted 10% figure includes US figures methinks.

samosamo this is a good plan for those in London near to outstanding state schools but for those of us outside of the M25 some areas are a state educational wasteland...

The Tatler article is possibly looking at numerous years. Does it really matter? Good A level results and destinations can be found in the top 200 schools! Who would not think any of them was not a decent school?

Bucks has state grammar schools. Move here. Pretty good state schools in Oxfordshire too. There are good schools in lots of places but you have to be in the right place to access them.

PresentingPercy I'm curious how they crunch their numbers.. I just found on the Malvern College web that there was 1 Oxbridge offer in 2019 (3 in 2018). In 2019 they had 80 A level students so that's about 1.3%. Tatler need to check their calculations? A factor of 10ish out?

Tatler is wrong on Oxbridge all the time! I’ve noticed it when looking at schools where the percentage made me raise an eyebrow! It’s just a throw away line they have been given by the school based on a historic very best year. After all it’s Tatler. It’s more about the parents than the DC and which parents are known to the journalists.

Having said that, when DDs old school made it into Tatler for the first time it was banner headline news on the web site. Only went in once. DD2’s former 6th form is a permanent fixture but it has ultra Tatler parents! Music icon/fashion icon and rich! Of course it’s in!
